TLC... the best since The Supremes?

do you think TLC were the greatest girl group since The Supremes? I mean they were original and they had hits right?

I liked Destiny's child. But something about TLC is better. Each member in TLC had their chance to shine. UNLIKE DC who always had Beyonce on vocals.

TLC seemed more like a real group. You had each person with a personality that came out and their special part in the group.

Unlike DC it just seemed like the other members were backup singers and dancers. You didn't really find a connection with them, except for beyonce.

But for TLC i loved EVERYONE OF THEM. from Crazy Left Eye, To Sexy Chili, and Cool T-boz....

TLC were probably the best since the supremes.

I agree 100% smile Although TLC were original and each member had their own personality, En Vogue are clearly the best since the Supremes. To me TLC was more of an entertaining group and Destiny's Child had only person who stood out which was Beyonce`. Everyone in En Vogue were equally talented vocally.

They were angelic. The Emotions did make some undisputed classics: "Flowers," "Don't Ask My Neighbor," and "Best of My Love," the last of which (arguably) doesn't have to take a back seat to any Supremes song. The argument could also be made that vocally, they were superior.

But the Supremes' body of work makes them Supreme.

Absolutely. In fact, "Best of My Love" and "Flowers" have more plays on my iPod than any of the Supremes songs.

I feel like it is somewhat artificial to try to compare "girl groups". The Supremes, TLC, and En Vouge (since they were later referenced) put out completely different music. I don't think they are similar in any way.I'd sooner compare TLC to Blackstreet than the Supremes.

i think its more cultural/ commcerial/ world wide impact.
and also how each individual member was (somewhat) marketed to the public with their own personalities.

i dont think en vogue was marketed like that. they were just a group of singers that sang together well, but i dont think they were marketed on personalities that made u feel connected to them.

So on that note, i think TLC was the next in line. i was watching WHAT ABOUT YOUR FRIENDS video yesterday and it just made me smile. they seemed like so much fun back then and the way they were marketed, their image and how they grew up a lil with each album was GENIUS.

In a sense I felt the same. But in the same time I almost harken TLC being better on the personality side than the Supremes. The other didnt have any personality only than Diana singing most songs. Plus they were friends not that the Supremes were not. But I dont remember any of them shining.

TLC was a good girl group that had hit records but to put them in the
category of some of the great female vocal groups they just don't cut it.
TLC had a great run with their first two albums and fanmail was just
average at best and with the unfortunate death of Left Eye people just weren't
interested anymore. TLC is not even in the category of girl groups like the
supremes, emotions, envogue, etc.

TLC were influenced by Salt-N-Pepa.

En Vogue were influence by The Supremes.

End Of.

Each group has their distinctions which made them succeed, but it so happened that TLC sold more albums. Not to say that TLC is any better.
