From that list, the only song that I really really like is Lauryn Hill's "Doo Wop (That Thing)" boxed That list shows you how pop music became so bland in the 90s.

True. I was happy for Cher at the time . Plus Whitney has making her first (or second) comeback

speaking of Cher...isn't it time for her to make another end-of-the-decade comeback? She always has a big hit single at the end of every decade...

"Take Me Home" (1979)

"If I Could Turn Back Time" (1989)

"Believe" (1999)

2009???

Thank you for reminding me why I started to hate music. lol

This was the last semester of grade 12 for me, and I had already been listening to Lauryn's album since the end of August when it dropped (and the first single was out before then).

I liked the Total and Jay-Z songs though but both seem to be firmly in my memories of 1998??

The one album I was still listening to in 1999 was Gang Starr's Moment Of Truth.

I still like these songs! Although if you would have asked about liking Matchbox 20 or N'Sync back when they first came out, the denial would have been very strong! lol

That's the only song I like on that list. Cher is the only new CD I bought that year other than Prince. I remember when Prince's "1999" album came out and a lot of us imagined that music in general would sound like that album in the actual year 1999. Little did we know that the actual year 1999 would be slow and dull as hell. Talk about a major fucking disappointment.

The whole decade blew. There were about 3 or 4 artists even worth a damn in that decade that began in that decade, and the rest that were good were just bands from the 80's who kept releasing music.

I MISS THE LATE 90S..... i wish i could back to 1997-2000.

I know most of these songs and enjoyed them. To me pop at this time was really fun, alternative rock and Rnb/hip hop was fun as well.

uzi @ that f*ckin Cher song.

HATED it from the moment I heard it.

There were other shockers released that year as well, like

"you're sweet like chocolate" barf

"Livin la bloodclaat bomoclaat rasclaat Vida Loca." disbelief

And "Mambo Number Five." chainsaw

Most of the songs here...I can't even remember the tune. I remember R.Kelly's "Fed Up" song because I told my now ex that he'd better memorize it. lol Unfortunately, he didn't.

I love Dru Hill but can't "hear" These Are the Times. Just like Bone Thugs...love them but can't remember this song. And we've only gone downhill from 1999. sad shrug confuse

"Faded Pictures" is the best song both Case and Joe have ever done. I hated "Miami" and "Take Me There" back then, but I've warmed up to the latter just a little.

SoulAlive, I can't believe you don't have love for "Ex-Factor"! That is my joint!
