The main number of funktracks i've heard through the years were about cats gettin their groove on with kittens.
And songs like "Karma Chameleon" + "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me" weren't indeed ones which were played in funkclubs which i've visited. Although i try to avoid musiclabeling when possible, but i simply don't hear funk-ingredients in those Culture Club-songs, though their track "Church Of The Poison Mind" shows clearly some traditional gospel-influences.

That's imo a far stretch you're reaching with. Too much of a generalisation. The original meaning for funk is "smell", btw. It is. It is.

It's not just a matter of "don't listen to it if you don't like it" because it's all over the damn TV, even on the top part of the screen on the damn TV Guide Channel when you try to see what's coming on TV. It depresses the hell out of me to even hear the shit. So I'll give it up when they give up making it. Either that, or take it off of everything except for the shit hop radio stations where it belongs because I don't want to hear or be exposed to it. You got digital cable finally!

No, just basic cable. There is a TV Guide channel that has a scrolling chart of what's on for the next two hours on the bottom of the screen and at the top of the screen they have shows....usually something that has previously been on the "E" Channel. Lately, it seems like every time I turn to that channel, they have two or three people sitting there talking about that damn "American Idol" show and showing clips. It's to the point that I turn the sound down when I'm looking at the chart so I don't have to hear them. I mean, if I wanted to see that stupid show, I'd watch it when it aired. I did have a month's free trial of the expanded cable though. After that trial ran out I cancelled. Other than the movie channels, there was nothing on it I wanted to see and it was waaaay too expensive. Hey, I'm all for a free trial though. I recorded movie after movie after movie. . . . They're a ok R&B group with a big horn section, but I wouldn't label them a funk band. There maybe a funk cut somewhere in their cd but I didn't hear it. Listen to "Graham Central Station" song titled "Hair". Datz funk. Listen to "24-7 Spyz" song titled "Millenium Gumbo", datz funk. Listen to "Bootsy's Rubber Band" song titled "I rather be with you", datz funk. Now get back with me when you have digested real funk. [Edited 2/13/09 16:30pm]

Eh? ... Judging by the clips I checked out on YouTube, those guys wouldn't know funk if it hit them upside the head. It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

Your premise is faulty and circumstantial. Music is not gay or straight, just like music is not black or white. The people who perform it are gay or straight, or black or white.

Funk is a cutlure that exists on its own & Gay is a culture that exists on it's own.Fuse them together & you could possibly end up with Boy George! boy george was in no way funky. lmao I was being sarcastic.I said Funk was a culture & Gay was a cultrue. I personally don't think funk is "gay" per se, but as Vainandy pointed out earlier, ShitHop robbed music of its individuality. Now we have a bunch of hypermasculine retards running around in videos overcompensating for lack of intelligence and talent by parading material things, utilizing poor grammar and using women as props.
What made music so interesting from the inception of Rock and Roll through the 1980's) was that it was about experimentation, regardless of it being a hit or miss. All genres did it and the visual side of it is what kept people engaged to the art. Funk is no different than rock or pop, blues or jazz. Certain artist are more out there than others. Some intentionally, some by implications. Song titles alone and outfits don't necessarily dictate a music being "gay". If anything, it made the music more entertaining. "Old man's gotta be the old man. Fish has got to be the fish."

I'm sorry but 24-7 Spyz do not have a song called "Millenium Gumbo". They have a LP called "Gumbo Millenuim". And "Valdez" off that LP is right up there with "Candy" by Cameo.
Funkenstein you're entitled to your opinion, but I still love ya!! That's what's cool about the Org. We can all agree to disagree.

in general gay people are atttracted to beat driven rhythmic music I love this statement because it makes us seem much more cooler, stylish, and having better taste than most straight people. Much moreso than the days when we were known for liking much slower types of music such as classical, opera, or symphonies. That's why my favorite thing to do is compare today's music to those types of music because of it's tempo. When a lot of us were into those slower types of music, we were called nerds and dorks. Beginning with the disco era on up, we were freed from those stereotypes because our music was the total opposite of what straight people thought we were all into. The funny thing is, now we have straight people going back to early days with their slow tempoed music that never gets fast. The fact that it's a thug making that all-slow music makes it where they escape the "nerd" or "dork" label but I love to point out to them that we had those labels because people believed we liked nothing but slow tempoed music. I think it's only fair that they should get those labels also. I am not as much of a fan of this statement as you are. I hear you about the classical/opera/symphonies, and I see your point about thugs escaping the nerd/dork image; however, I have to say that what gets in my soul, when we're speaking about funk/funky music is not gay at all. Since funk is an extension of the blues (listen to George Clinton talk about the song Maggot Brain and you'll see what I mean.) Something lurking, murky. Listen to Computer Blue and you'll see. That song is what drove me to become a Prince fan. It's a hard-ass groove, but there's something murky and lurking about that song, and I don't think of anything gay when I listen to it.

Here's my take on the issue of whether a music genre is gay-connected or not:
Music is supposed to be universal in terms of love or hate for it. Music, if done right, can bring people of all forms together. I feel blues, rock 'n' roll, soul, pop, Motown, funk, etc., brings people together. There's as much a straight and bisexual connection to funk as there is a gay, lesbian and transsexual connection to it. If it's great music, it'll attract all kinds of listeners no matter what race, age, religion, gender or orientation you fall under. That's my take on it.
