Q-tip live in Japan - my short review Saw him last night in Yokohama, Japan. Show was great. He has a live band and they are very tight. The drummer is amazing. Q-tip had the crowd dancing and screaming the entire evening. He has extended some of the songs from his new album - and some of them sound even better live. Of course he also pleased the crowd with old Tribe songs. At one point he had fans take turns singing the Norah Jones part on Life is Better. I got lucky and he passed the mic to me as well. I tried my best.
The mostly Japanese audience was kinda funny to watch. They were mostly boys but a fair amount of girls, all decked out in hip-hop gear. Hoodies, sagging pants, baseball caps, etc. But nobody pushed and shoved or talked for that matter. I could go right up to the stage or hang out in the back without much effort. Q-tip told us we were even better than the Tokyo audience he had the previous night. The show was on fire. Seriously! Catch this show if you can. You will not be dissapointed. Sounds like the Japanese are more civilized.....I saw a show at a Festival not too long ago and folks talked, walked, pushed, shoved....you name it, those fuckers did it. | |
