Good album, and though I'll get hate, I juuuuust about prefer "victory" and "2300 Jackon Street". Dont get me wrong, "triumph" is great, but the disco based tracks like "lovely one" "your ways" and "everybody" let it down. Need to hear them again, as its been years, but I just cant dig most disco and so cannot dig all the tracks off this album.

"Can you feel it" "heartbreak hotel" "time waits for no one" "walk right now" "give it up" and even the silly "wondering who" are all great though.

MTV fucked up not playing "can you feel it" when the track dropped. No video looked as good as that back then. Its still amazing now. Radio didn't pick it up in the US either. It did well in the UK though, and rightly so.

If I remember "everybody" sounded like a massive ripoff of MJ's "get on the floor", which if you liked "get on the floor" then great, but I never cared for that track much, and thus, "everybody" is passable to me.

I hear ya. Funny I can't get into "2300 Jackson Street". Like you I love the Victory album. I've been on a 9 years break with the J5 but they'll be in my rotation for the next decade. Here's my favorite song from the "Triumph" album.

Yeah, I understand the hate for "victory", its basicially a collection of solo tracks by members of the Jacksons (minus Jermaine, who was late to the album...Infact, "torture" woulda been a Jackie and Michael duet (Jackie co-wrote and produced it), but Jermaine came in late, and got put on co lead vox instead)...

...but nothing on Triumph touches either "torture" or "wait" for me, which have no disco traces at all. "Wait" is better then pretty much any Toto track, and they were involved in it. Its also about the sole AOR track any Jackson has ever done. Storming track and a big change from the organic "destiny" and "triumph" album (they go well together, whilst "victory" and "2300 Jackson street" have no real connection to anything previous).

SoulAlive

Great album.I recently got the Circuit City remaster with the bonus tracks. As good as this album is,I still think 'Destiny' is the best Jacksons album.

I was listening to it the other day, and it's grown on me. I wish they could've put the tension aside and made a great record

This is my favorite Jacksons album. I can listen to every song, even ones I don't care for like Walk Right Now.

Michael sounds so good on "torture". Love it when that second verse rolls in.

And when you hear Mike at the very end of "wait" ("myyyyy priiiiide"). Its like "woah, there you are Mike", or something.

Shame Randy fucked up "the hurt" though. Still like it though.
