Mariah's hubby takes over Jerry Springer's spot

For those of you thinking that Mariah Carey's new husband Nick Cannon was going to produce her next album, it apparently won't happen so soon, as he has taken over Jerry Springer's gig as host of America's Got Talent.

NEW YORK (AP) -- America's got Nick Cannon as the new host of "America's Got Talent," says NBC.

The musician, comedian, actor and producer will preside over the network's talent competition series when it returns for a fourth season this summer.

Cannon, 28, had his breakthrough role while a teen on the Nickelodeon series "All That," starred in his own MTV show, "Nick Cannon Presents Wild'n Out," and has recorded with artists including Kanye West and Diddy.

His film appearances include "Bobby" and "The Killing Room."

Cannon takes over from former "America's Got Talent" host Jerry Springer.

Sharon Osbourne, Piers Morgan and David Hasselhoff will remain as celebrity judges on the show produced by FreemantleMedia North America and Simon Cowell of "American Idol."

She couldn't have really been considering this??? With all of the great, seasoned producers she can choose from who are probably dying to work with her, she honestly wanted to bring Nick in to produce her next CD??? Is she sniffing that same stuff Whitney is on??? lol lol lol

To be fair, no. There's no official word from Mariah's camp or Nick Cannon's camp that he is in any way involved with producing or writing any of Mariah's potential new songs or her next album. It came up during one of the numerous Janet Jackson threads here on the Org where someone claimed Nick would screw up Mariah's music career the same way Jermaine Dupri ruined Janet's career.

I don't think there was official word that she wanted him to produce it. But yeah it'll mean bad business, lol. Mariah should learn from Janet and Whitney: don't work with your "loved ones". evillol

I heard about this. Strange. But my first thought was that he was getting a talk show and that Jerry Springer was retiring....not that Nick would do his show or anything. Just the idea of Nick having a daytime talk show....stranger than "America's Got Talent gig...than again marrying Mariah Carey....strangest thing ever!
