Don't Go There: Eddie Murphy Sings

Hi folks,

This might be a fun sub forum to discuss things we don't wanna remember but we will anyway. Called "Don't Go There"

I say we start with Eddie Murphy as a singer.

My three hall of fame videos are "I Was A King" "How Could It Be" And "Whatzupwitu"

He got by with "Party All The Time" but with "How Could It Be" we were all like "Oh no he's not!"

With "WhatzupwitU" That was interesting.

With "I Was A King" He went kind of far into that everybody's an icon thing.

You know something...I was one of the 500,000 people that bought his 1985 album How Could It Be? on cassette(please don't throw the tomatoes at me. Most of the songs were unimpressive, but we know about the big number #2 Billboard pop hit "Party All The Time". But at the time I liked the title song(I liked the video too detailing a breakup between a man and the woman of his life...anybody remember seeing the video on Fiday Night Videos back then...I like at the end of the video when he looks around at all the furniture on the living room then looks at the woman and says..."so who's gonna get the house baby???(LOL).

But the song that saved this album and made it worth me buying is the Stevie Wonder produced and penned "Everything Is Coming Up Roses". OH MY GOODNESS, the groove Stevie lays down on this track is awesome!!! It has that "Let Get Serious" kind of vibe to it. But I think the muscial backdrop on this track is better than LGS. I was hoping Columbia Records would release the song as a single. But they didn't. Even though Eddie doesn't quite have the vocal dexterity, to pull the song off, he was good enough. Again, Stevie lays down a fierce groove on this one, if I recall corretly, he's singing background on this track too.

I got to try to see if this song is available for download, I misplaced the tape when I moved and didn't bother repurchasing the album again.
