El DeBarge Eldra Patrick "El" DeBarge [2] (born June 4, 1961) is an American R&B and soul falsetto singer and was the focal point and lead singer of the DeBarge family group throughout the early to mid-1980s. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Eldra Patrick DeBarge was born the fifth of eight brothers and sixth of ten DeBarge family members.
According to his mother, Etterlene DeBarge, El is the father of 10 children, the eldest born when El was only fifteen. His children include Adris DeBarge, who is an executive assistant for producer Tracey Edmonds.[3] He is currently separated from Monique DeBarge, having been arrested in 2007 for a conflict stemming from an individual described as "girlfriend." El DeBarge was arrested in Los Angeles County, California on August 26, 2007 for possible vandalism, drug possession, and alleged domestic violence.[4] On October 27, 2008 he was sentenced for possession of a controlled substance. Eldra had been arrested earlier in the month after police discovered two warrants for his arrest. [5]. Nope. I just recently saw the Unsung doc. and thought what a shame it is that he's serving prison time for crack posession. Its just sad. And lets face it, you know how these stories usually end. [Edited 2/10/09 14:58pm] | |

Maybe a few years in prison will be the wake-up call that he so desperately needs.Maybe when he is released,he will start to put his life back together.Sadly,some people have to hit rock bottom before they can begin this process. | |
