I'm sure there are loads of examples of Motown covering Motown and the covers bettering the original. Some of the J5 covers i heard first as a kid, so tend to like them better.

But not this one! razz

Really? Do you realize midnightmover that it´s by Michael Jackson - the man you hate so much?

You'll just get a barbed response and off we go again! lol

There are folks that are J5/Jacksons fans and pretty much hate MJ post-'Thriller'. Not saying i'm one but they're out there.

I actually didn't want to post the video because the visual side detracts from the aural side. Unfortunately the Youtube clips with just a photo had the song playing too quietly, so I bit the bullet and posted this performance instead. Best to ignore the video and just listen. The magic is in the sound.

No, it's not. Michael Jackson is one of about twenty people who's efforts went into this. The songwriters, producers, arrangers, musicians and co-lead singer Jermaine all combined to create this. It demeans the moment to say it's by Michael Jackson. He's just one of the singers. An excellent one, but no more musically important than the other people involved.

This thread is about the recording of the song. Not that mimed performance.

You would stoop low enough and insult a 14 year old boy. Newsflash motown would not let them get more involved with the music. Mj could probably write great music even at 14 years old

To be honest, I prefer the Tempts' version of "Who's Loving You" over the J5's. boxed lol The Miracles did the original by the way. lol

Now that's where we part ways. I prefer the J5's version of "Who's Loving You." That's one of my favorite vocal performances of all time.

Don't get me wrong. I love it when Michael break it down. And the Funk Brothers and the Detroit Symphony were at their finest musically. I'll DIE to have the instrumental!

Anyways, I love the J5's cover of "I Can't Quit Your Love" by the Four Tops.
