Rihanna's Injuries -- "Horrific"

Law enforcement sources have now gotten specific with us... police took pictures of Rihanna's injuries and they are "horrific."

As we reported, the photos show major contusions on both sides of the singer's face -- there is serious swelling and bruising. Her lip is split and her nose bloody. We have now confirmed there are bite marks on one of her arms and on several fingers.

And we now know this... Rihanna claims Brown struck her with his fists and that's what did the damage. There was no object used in the alleged attack.

Rihanna refused treatment at the scene, but before she left cops took photos. We're told the photos alone are "devastating proof of abuse."

And we've learned it was not Rihanna who called 911. Someone in the area heard her screams and called.

That is just horrible, I hope she is able to speak out for assaulted women in general when she recovers.

You can imagine that she might well have a lot of embarrassment about having the details of a personal relationship thrust into the public domain, and maybe even some feelings of shame (wrongly!!) about having 'let it happen', etc, but I also hope she can gather herself up and speak out about this, because she'd really do a great service to a lot of women - particularly young women - by drawing awareness to the issue. All I know is that I've seen hide nor hair of evidence of ANY incident taking place, altercation or otherwise, so I'm not going to judge any of the parties involved. All we have now is a speculation and a rumour mill that won't sleep, and that's hardly basis to become judge, jury, and start casting aspersions in any direction.

When the facts are released to the public, then I'll decide who I think is the knucklehead in this scenario. But until then, I think we've really come to a bizarre place in celebrity news when we're perched on our seats devouring tidbits from TMZ, MediaTakeout, and the like...
