Hated it. Actually, Anita's music has always been much duller than Shitney's but Shitney is the one I can't stand because she had influence on others.

I apply the type of jokes to match the type of artist. We're not discussing Prince here. lol

I used to like her a lot but they play her so much here in Michigan. I swear you can turn on the radio at any given time and some station will be playing her. It's gotten to the point where I can't stand hearing any of her songs now.

I adore Anita Baker and can't understand the hate for the woman. She's got soul! I love the fact that Detroit shows love for her and in that video, she gives it back. I have that song in my head all the time.

There are two Anita DVDs that show up on Amazon's first page. Can people recommend one over the other?

At least Anita Baker NEVER try to be a fake-ass valley girl like Whitney was doing.

The skating scenes were filmed at Northland Roller Rink in Detroit. I grew up skating there, my parents grew up skating there and their parents, etc . Anita is driving through the neighborhood in which she grew up. It feels like an old roller skating temple. There is also a scene inside the historic Bakers Keyboard Lounge on Livernois Ave. This song is like an old friend of mine. Love AB!

yeah, I also prefer some casio stock sounds and default rhythm patterns on low-fidelity 15$ plastic kiddie midi keyboards with "disco" rhythm and accompaniement selected, which sound as if they were programmed by some 5 year olds. you know what I'm talking about, later Bar Kays records and all that boring shit posing as so called "funk".

yawwwwwn

xcuse me now, I have to leave for a moment. see, while others are only wasting their lifes on the internet, I will now get out and post on countless threads about artists and music styles I can't stand, so that everyone who's not even interested will finally know what music I don't like. I can't think of something more exciting and satisfying

Young man, are you listening to me?
I said, young man, what do you want to be?
I said, young man, you can make real your dreams.
But you've got to know this one thing!

Now,come on Vainandy....at least Anita's music is soulful lol You can't accuse her of selling out to pop audiences.I know you prefer music that's funkier and more uptempo but when it comes to slow jams,'Rapture' can't be beat. It's the type of soulfully rich album that Whitney could never make.

I hear ya. I don't know what's up with all these mean folks these days. Let's all hold hands and join in on the chorus of "Kumbaya".
