Beyonce criticized for her curves? EXCLUSIVE: Beyonce's Rep: Dress Made Her Look Curvy
WEDNESDAY MARCH 25, 2009 Beyonce's rep is firing back at critics who have said the singer, 27, has packed on pounds. After Beyonce was photographed in NYC March 8 for her I ... Am tour in a Thierry Mugler couture dress, online commenters blasted her curves ("Why does she look so deformed?" one quipped). But her rep tells Usmagazine.com the dress -- which was originally designed for Jerry Hall -- is to blame. "This is not a weight-gain issue," her rep tells Us. "Beyonce is in the best shape of her life. The exaggerated hips are a design element of a truly couture dress. Beyonce has always loved this dress." What's more, a rep for designer Mugler tells Us the waist on Hall's dress was 23 inches and was reduced to 19 for Beyonce. Says the Mugler rep, "The padded hips intentionally focus attention to the waist." Beyonce kicks off a world tour in the spring. http://www.usmagazine.com...++-2009253 So Beyonce has a 19 inch waist? I'm a bit confuzzled by this comment: What's more, a rep for designer Mugler tells Us the waist on Hall's dress was 23 inches and was reduced to 19 for Beyonce.
Are they saying that Beyonce is wearing the exact same dress that Jerry Hall herself wore? Or is Beyonce wearing a replica of Jerry's dress? Jerry's dress has long sleeves, Bey's sleeves are short... And if it were just a replica of Jerry's dress, they wouldnt have had to alter the waist size, they would have just made it in the appropriate size for Beyonce's waist Looking at the pic, it clearly looks like a replica of the dress that Jerry wore, I dont believe that they had to "reduce" anything for Beyonce As for that dress, I dont like it, it's ugly IMHO [Edited 3/27/09 9:56am] MJ L.O.V.E: https://www.facebook.com/...689&type=2 / YOUTUBE: http://www.youtube.com/us...nderSilent

- Beyonce was at her curviest around the time of Austin Powers when she did that video where she was hoola-hooping
- I guess since she more mainstream, they trying to make her seem "fat"

There you go. Makes sense. Kinda looks like the affect of old school corset tight-lacing without the effort.

It's just not flattering, is the problem. I don't care how "couture" it is. The shyt is ugly. "Be glad for what you had baby, what you've got..."

Agreed. It's not cute on either one of them IMO; it's a gawdy, fugly dress. Plus, why would you add padding to any of your clothes when you know you have curves? Curvy people should avoid wearing padding as much as possible...I know I do. Prince Rogers Nelson

This is getting ridiculous.
I bet you those same sad mofos who talk about her curves are the same ones who secretly wish to have a hip implant on their flat-pan asses.

They should have pulled that shit out. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I agree, the dress is ugly and I myself NEVER had a thing for padded anything in my clothes since I was a kid but hey...we ain't the ones wearing it so... surviving on the thought of loving you, it's just like the water

She's probably preparing for any falls that may occur this time around. I'm pretty sure padding would have helped to break this fall just a tad. Prince Rogers Nelson

No amount of weight gain could make her hips jut out suddenly like that, its obviously the exaggerated design. Who the hell thought she gained weight from this pic? & what if she had?? LAWD

This is like when magazines have that "Who Wore It Better" section. Most of the time, the outfit is hideous and I'm like, "Who cares who wore it better...the outfit looks like a tragedy on all of them." Even the most beautiful people in the world can't make an ugly outfit look good no matter how hard they may try. I'm really hoping that neither Jerry or Beyonce had to pay to wear that monstrosity. Sadly, that dress probably costs more than my car does. [Edited 3/28/09 16:15pm] Prince Rogers Nelson

For real. If you've got hips, why in the world would you wear *extra* padding? It looks WAY out of proportion.

Name calling? ...what are you, like 10 or something? Well, at least I get to enjoy a good laugh...so thanks again for always delivering the funny. Once I see someone as a walking joke, I can't get offended by them...maybe it's because I deal with immature and intellectually- challenged people like you on a daily basis. Dude, unless you show up at my front door, there's really nothing you can say or do that is going to offend me (sorry), but feel free to keep trying if it makes you feel better about yourself. I'm all about helping people boost their self-esteem. If you could read, you would see that I don't like the dress on either one of them...same as pretty much everyone else who has posted thus far. It's okay though, because I understand that you're just upset because I had to put you in your place on the other thread; I don't even have to go in that thread to already know that you responded to me...you'll be alright. *awaiting assinine response* . This should be good. Prince Rogers Nelson

19inch waist is that even possible? You CANNOT use the name of God, or religion, to justify acts of violence, to hurt, to hate, to discriminate- Madonna

Yup. I'm just surprised that she can maintain that with her age, height, and weight. When I was in my early 20's I had a 21 inch waist...at this age no chances of me ever seeing that again, though

I believe there are women out there with 19 inch waists, but I do not believe at all that Beyonce has a 19 inch waist she looks at least a 24.
