EXCLUSIVE: Beyonce's Rep: Dress Made Her Look Curvy

Beyonce's rep is firing back at critics who have said the singer, 27, has packed on pounds.

After Beyonce was photographed in NYC March 8 for her I ... Am tour in a Thierry Mugler couture dress, online commenters blasted her curves ("Why does she look so deformed?" one quipped).

But her rep tells Usmagazine.com the dress -- which was originally designed for Jerry Hall -- is to blame.

"This is not a weight-gain issue," her rep tells Us. "Beyonce is in the best shape of her life. The exaggerated hips are a design element of a truly couture dress. Beyonce has always loved this dress."

What's more, a rep for designer Mugler tells Us the waist on Hall's dress was 23 inches and was reduced to 19 for Beyonce.

Says the Mugler rep, "The padded hips intentionally focus attention to the waist."

Beyonce kicks off a world tour in the spring.

Are they saying that Beyonce is wearing the exact same dress that Jerry Hall herself wore? Or is Beyonce wearing a replica of Jerry's dress? Jerry's dress has long sleeves, Bey's sleeves are short... And if it were just a replica of Jerry's dress, they wouldnt have had to alter the waist size, they would have just made it in the appropriate size for Beyonce's waist Looking at the pic, it clearly looks like a replica of the dress that Jerry wore, I dont believe that they had to "reduce" anything for Beyonce


As for that dress, I dont like it, it's ugly IMHO

Agreed. It's not cute on either one of them IMO; it's a gawdy, fugly dress. Plus, why would you add padding to any of your clothes when you know you have curves? Curvy people should avoid wearing padding as much as possible...I know I do.

I agree, the dress is ugly and I myself NEVER had a thing for padded anything in my clothes since I was a kid but hey...we ain't the ones wearing it so...

This is like when magazines have that "Who Wore It Better" section. Most of the time, the outfit is hideous and I'm like, "Who cares who wore it better...the outfit looks like a tragedy on all of them." Even the most beautiful people in the world can't make an ugly outfit look good no matter how hard they may try. I'm really hoping that neither Jerry or Beyonce had to pay to wear that monstrosity. Sadly, that dress probably costs more than my car does.

Yup. I'm just surprised that she can maintain that with her age, height, and weight. When I was in my early 20's I had a 21 inch waist...at this age no chances of me ever seeing that again, though

I believe there are women out there with 19 inch waists, but I do not believe at all that Beyonce has a 19 inch waist she looks at least a 24.
