As far as I can see, Janelle didn't leave very much behind when Big Boi's label, Purple Ribbon went under and Puffy signed her to Bad Boy, cuz this song is practically drenched in the Outkast sound.

It sounds a bit like "Bombs Over Baghdad" and the video reminds me of the one that Andre did for "Hey Ya."

She's gorgeous, once you get a look at her face. Fucking exotic beauty! The hair throws me off, but I can't get used to it. At first, I thought she was trying too hard. But, with Puffy saying that she would be the best signing since Biggie, I was adamant about not holding her in high regard, anyhow. But, she looks like she's got something going. I guess her and Lady Goo-Goo Gaga are going to carry the torch for the quirks of this generation. Hope they give a fresh feel. Everybody in the market is over-saturating it with the same over-produced sound. I want a raw sound that's going to hit me like I'd never seen it coming in my wildest dreams. Too much to ask, nowadays.

Yeah, you get that right off the bat from her Many Moons video. She's channeling "Hey Ya". One thing's fa sho, that broad can dance her ass off. Great energy. I wanna see more of her.

She made me tear up in Amoeba when she performed last summer. She sang "Smile," and it was breath-taking.

I love her stage presence! She really takes inspiration from older performers like James Brown and Judy Garland.

I've been wanting to see her ever since. Hopefully when that full length comes out this year. biggrin

This is one of my favorite performances...

that would have brought me to my knees. I haven't been destroyed by a song like this in a very long time. I still can't get over how beautiful this song is.

Why can't they let artists be themselves? We're all guilty of thinking everybody is a clone. Janelle doesn't look to me to be a clone to me. lol Then again, everything is recycled and made anew. I still don't understand why she signed to Bitchy Combs' label. mad

YES! I was just thinking this last night! She does remind me of early Kelis. Come to think of it, her and Andre 3000 were dating or something, and this is probably the route she would've taken musically if she didn't go shit hop on me.
