What I want is not to have them forced down our throats at every turn. I admit to liking Duran Duran and Wham! in my youth but at least they knew how to craft and perform decent pop songs.

First, I'm not a Dude....second, no one said they had to be the Sex Pistols. They should stay on the freaking Disney Channel...not doing duets with great artist. That was a terrible idea and a terrible performance..timing and vocals were terrible!!! Sorry some people have musical standards. This whole freaking decade has been nothing but "fluff" acts getting A list attention and you can't escape it...sorry but I'm sick of it. If you like the Jonas Brothers good for you

lol I remember seeing that hairdo back in the "80s" that used to go with that Geri curl look. I think that's what Kanye is trying to do..bring back the 80s look and style.

Apparantly, enough people disagreed with the notion the Jonas Bros. "should stay on the freaking Disney Channel" that they have made -- and will continue to make -- millions well beyond that venue. Next, while I certainly got no thrill seeing them desecrate Stevie's song (IMHO), Stevie himself thought enough of them to share a stage with them. You may want to take up discussion of standards with him. My guess is he'd school you.

And fluff? Eh, I'm no fan of it either. shrug But it certainly is nothing new... and it ain't going anywhere. Alongside sensible fare like Stevie, I personally would rather my 7-year-old enjoy, say, the Jonas Bros. than... ohhhh... T.I., Kanye, Jay-Z and Lil' Wayne... and an about-to-drop M.I.A.... just off the top of my head.

But then I understand others have higher standards than me. shrug

Granted. But aside from the fact I suspect the Jonas Bros. target a significantly different (and much younger) market than Duran Duran or Wham! back in the day, I bet there are some kiddies who'd take you to the mat arguing the musical merits of their stuff!

In my old age, I try not to be too hard on the kids and the trash fare they imagine to be art.

M.I.A. has a great personal story and seems pretty sophisticated in her output. But I'm speaking more generally of a particular aesthetic like we saw tonight.

All i know is that Alison Krauss and Robert Plant deserve it all, notice how when Robert made a comment about doing "real rythym blues" people like Jamie Foxx and some other dude in the crowd suddenly got all serious, sorry foxx you suck and you aint even funny anymore. There is more funk and blues on the Plant Krauss record than in RB the last 10 years.

And by the way U2 and Springsteen are already having their names engraved on next years awards SO Kanye you better get your crying ass ready when you lose next year again.

And that American Boy chick was singing along with the record.
Adele as BEST NEW ARTIST well, move aside Marc Cohn you have been replaced in the "New Artist" jinx.

And i see "Stevie" is getting a pass, U know if Prince was singing with the Jonas Brothers we'd be dogging Prince not the lame ass Jonas Brothers, but No is mentioning how Stevie wasnt "forced" to do this, he agreed!

I forgot it was on. I'm so out of touch these days. Don't seem like I'm missing much. I do kinda wanna see Kanya fuck up. innocent I can't be anti-Jonas brothers. They're young, innocent kids having fun, caring about the music.

Apparently this is the only criteria that matters when it comes to winning Grammys and performing with living legends. disbelief
