Just a great song. Sad that they couldn't work out. They had great vocals.

Yeah, Kina Cosper replaced her. She's the girl who later recorded that rock song, "From the Gutter".

I had Kina's album for a minute but couldn't get into it. Now I wonder if I would be able to dig it.

I can't believe they only had one album. Another good song off that disc that is rarely mentioned is Don't Cry For Me. Their voices were something else. All those MJJ artists just disappeared.

Actually two. I think they were working on a third one when MJJ Music closed down.

Why do they have picture on there when 5 Miles To Empty wasn't on that CD but on the second one? Anyhoo, 5 Miles to Empty is one my all-time favorite songs by Brownstone followed by "Don't Cry For Me", "If You Love Me", "I Can't Tell You Why" and "Ooh La La La."

BTW, I read somewhere last year that Brownstone was coming back out. Didn't anyone hear about that besides me?

No you're not the only ones. The two original ones (minus the light-skinned one who left due to tension within the group and Kina) and a new girl are reportedly working on an album right now supposedly.

I always liked this song -- it's a shame it was basically their last hurrah. I absolutely loathed their debut single, "Pass the Lovin'"; I had to start changing the channel because I hated it so much. They turned that around quickly with "If You Love Me," which is just a fantastic song no matter how you look at it. I never got into the album the way one of my friends did, but I really like "Grapevyne" (my favorite) and "Half of You." The remake of "I Can't Tell You Why" is pretty good, too.

It took me awhile to appreciate their work

That's right they had Still Climbing with Kina (where 5 Miles was from!). But I think they're debut was my favorite. Even though I don't care for many female groups it's to the point that I don't even get into them anymore because they're not built to last. From the time Destiny's Child came on the scene there was a countdown going on.

Them and Men of Vizion ("Do Thangs", lol) didn't work exclusively with Mike, lol. I think Tatyana, 3T (of course) and Rebbie (well...) did.

I will never forget when Men of Vizion was on Soul Train and the host asked them why were they different from other male groups and one of them said because they believed in God or having faith in God something along those lines. But even then I had feeling they wouldn't be around. Then there was Nathan Cavalieri and the younger boy group whose name I recall... was it No Authority? Anyway, they completely disappeared. Didn't even sign with other labels.

I love that remix of "Do Thangz"; the opening rap was one of Missy Elliott's first guest appearances.

OTOH, I always hated their only real hit, "House Keeper":

Love this song! Funny, I was listening to some of the Kina CD on my ipod the other day. Too bad the girl never made it.
