Whitney in studio with famed pee on you musicmaker

[b]As Clive Davis prepares for his annual party pre-Grammys in Hollywood this weekend, the following has leaked forth:
"Whitney Houston, returning from self-imposed exile and a messy divorce, will take the stage (at the party)."
According to Davis, now 76 years old - (Houston, who) "just came out of the studio with R. Kelly, and after the Grammys she's going back in with David Foster. The songs are there."
Jennifer Hudson will be perfoming also.

I don't know why Clive is trying to "urbanize" her music, pairing her with folks like Ne-Yo,R Kelly and John Legend. She's already tried this strategy and it rarely works for her (remember her last flop album from several years ago?).

He should just let David Foster produce the entire album. She's "pop",anyway.Do we really hear her singing some R-Kelly-sounding garbage? barf

Clive is 76? Whoa. R. Kelly? Maybe at one point I'd work with him but on the strength of Bobbi Kris and all young women I wouldn't record so much as a jingle with him.

Any time she's feeling down and out or wants to come back, she all of a sudden wants to get "black". Remember when she got booed at the "Soul Train Awards" and on her very next album, she tried to get a little "blacker" but it still sounded like shit because she just ain't got no damn rhythm in her bones, period.

Well, if she wants to get "black" these days, she's certainly capable nowadays in this day and age because what's considered "black" in music these days is just as slow, dull, and rhythmless as the "whitest" classical music of the past. She'll fit right in these days because she's the godmother of how music eventually turned out to be.

Her comeback album in the late '90s followed exactly the "urban" template and was a big success. shrug

But at her age, and with all the baggage she's carrying, they're wasting their time trying to reach a younger, "trendier" audience.

Truth is, if they had any ethics or musical integrity they would drop Whitney Houston and not squander precious resources on someone who's only asset was a voice which she doesn't even have anymore.

It's nice to see Clive still has hope for the ole gal. I think it's very misplaced, but we'll see. I think Nippy's time has passed and there is not much chance in her returning to the sound she once possessed. Her vocal chords are wrecked!
