Agreed. I'd also put "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me" and "Church of the Poison Mind" ahead of "Karma Chameleon." So would I In 1983 and 1984,they had some excellent singles.

Ah...my senior year (Hayward High class of 1984!!!). Great music and great times. And the summer of 1984 was off the hook being a huge Prince fan back then . You're a year older than me. Class of 85 here. "We're the baddest class alive, we're the class of 85!" I remember the whole "Purple Rain" era just like it was yesterday. The "When Doves Cry" single came out first, then the album, then the movie. And all this was in the summer and the mania carried over all throughout my senior year. Prince, The Barkays, Midnight Star, Chaka Khan, Egyptian Lover, Pretty Tony and Freestyle, Twilight 22, Lakeside, Whodini, Roger, Apollonia 6, The Time, Sheila E., Sheena Easton, Alexander O'Neil (Innocent), Janet Jackson, Con-Funk-Shun, Rick James, and Paul Hardcastle all were throwing down hard my senior year. And the list went on and on. And don't forget the whole "Roxanne" saga. Andy is a four letter word.

I remember hearing "When Doves Cry" for the first time.It was in the spring of 1984...probably March or April? I came home from school, turned on the radio and I heard this new song that I had never heard before. At first,I wasn't sure if it was Prince, but when I heard the loud "yeeeeahhhhh" scream that he does,I knew that it was him, lol.I knew about his upcoming movie so I was all excited to hear the first single from it. Prince, The Barkays,Midnight Star,Chaka Khan,Egyptian Lover,Pretty Tony and Freestyle, Twilight 22, Lakeside, Whodini, Roger, Apollonia 6, The Time, Sheila E., Sheena Easton, Alexander O'Neil (Innocent), Janet Jackson, Con-Funk-Shun, Rick James, and Paul Hardcastle all were throwing down hard my senior year. Yeah,it's amazing how many artists were kicking ass in '84.I also remember breakdancing was experiencing its highest point, with the movies 'Beat Street' and 'Breakin',along with the successful soundtracks too.So much was going on,all at the same time.
