Dr. John - "The Night Tripper" Gris-Gris - (1968) Babylon - (1969) Remedies - (1970) The Sun, Moon & Herbs - (1971) Before he went on to what might be considered more traditional New Orleans music and years before the tune most folks associate him with (Right Place, Wrong Time), there was Dr. John "The Night Tripper". His first 4 albums (especially the first) sounded like some kind of scary World/Voodoo music. (a perfect sonic background for......hallucinogenic excursions.) Very unique, even for the wide open Free-Form FM days of the 60s. Unfortunately, YouTube only has a couple of tunes from his last album of this period. No classic tunes from Gris-Gris (the album that set the tone) like the wonderfully eerie I Walk On Gilded Splinters or Gris-Gris Gumbo Ya Ya. However, Zu Zu Mamou gives you a feel for the vibe he started on the Gris-Gris album. ...Zu Zu Mamou - from The Sun, Moon & Herbs tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. i do remember I Walk On Gilded Splinters being a lot of fun. There's a very adequate cover of the song by Johnny Jenkins, a rather odd one by Humble Pie (when Peter Frampton was in the band) and an absolutely horrid one by......Cher. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn.
