One interesting thing about the soundtrack....there's an entire Donna Summer album buried in it lol You could take all of her songs and create a separate Donna Summer album.Let's title it 'Last Dance'....

Donna Summer 'Last Dance'

SIDE 1---
Je taime (Moi Non Plus) (15:51)

SIDE 2---
Last Dance (7:10)
With Your Love (3:17)
Last Dance (reprise) (3:17)

To those of you familiar with her other 70s albums, you know that it was common for her to have a lengthy song that takes up an entire side of the album lol There's an extended version of "With Your Love" that could be used for this 'make believe album' that I created.

speaking of the music...it's amazing that they were able to cram so many songs into this film.In addition to the 19 songs on the 3-LP soundtrack, there are a number of additional songs that can be heard throughout the film....

"It's Serious" by Cameo
"Let's Make A Deal" by G.C. Cameron and Syreeta
"Easy" by the Commodores
"Brick House" by the Commodores
"Romeo And Juliet" by Alec R. Costandinos
"You're The Person I Feel" by 5th Dimension
"From Here Til Eternity" by Giorgio Moroder
"Dance All Night" by Cuba Gooding
"I'm here Again" by Thelma Houston
"You Can Always Tell A Lady By The Company She Keeps" by D.C. LaRue
"Meco's Theme" by Meco
"Down To Love Town" by The Originals
"Love To Love You Baby" by Donna Summer
"I Am What I Am" by Village People
"Hollywood" by Village People

I'm a completist.I really wish they had released a 'Thank God It's Friday' Volume 2 soundtrack with the songs listed above.Hell, they could still release it lol

I remember first seeing this movie on HBO when I was very young in the early '80s. I just re-watched it for the umpteenth time a couple months ago. The '70s look like such a fun, joyous, uninhibited time. I would have gotten in sooooo much trouble back then if I were of age.

BTW...I've purchased the soundtrack 3 times over the years!!!

I know what you mean lol Back then,I remember looking at the pictures inside the 'Saturday Night Fever' soundtrack, seeing the dancefloor with the colored lights and thinking "that must be paradise"....lol...it looked like so much fun.

I rented this film and the best thing about the movie was DONNA SUMMER doing LAST DANCE. As far as funny to me, well I liked The Leatherman dancing and I dug Terry Nunn from Berlin and her Crazy friend and Jeff Goldblum. The soundtrack was Cool for all it's disco tracks.

Never thought about it that way. Her version of "Je T'aime" is great! I have a two CD version that I assume has all the tracks from the 3 LPs. BTW, I think this is the pick of the month from the Donna Summer tribute site.

Yeah, I noticed that when I watched the movie. I was surprised to hear all those tracks but notice that they were not on the soundtrack (not so much "Love To Love, You" since Donna already had plenty on there. I guess since many of those songs were hits already, they were just for background.

Did Village People do a cover of "I Am What I Am" (the same song Gloria Gaynor did?). That is a super gay song!

Cult classic! The movie bombed in the theatres and received lousy reviews, but this is a fun flick. I remember staying up LATE one night to see it on HBO back then.

Correct me if I'm wrong (I haven't seen it in years), but Debra Winger is in this flick isn't she?

Yes,Debra Winger is in this film....playing a clumsy young lady in search of her Mr.Right.The film bombed in the theatres and the reviews were brutal ("thank God it's over",one critic memorably wrote) but the theme song "Last Dance" won an Oscar.

I love the soundtrack. I've only seen the movie once and I wasn't paying too much attention to it when I was watching it. From what I remember, I didn't care too much for it. I remember it being a comedy but it felt kinda like a disco version of "The Love Boat".

"a disco version of the Love Boat" hmmm That pretty much sums it up (lol). It's about a Friday night at a Hollywood disco known as the Zoo.It's an ensemble comedy, and each character has their own "issues" they're dealing with. It's a fun, lighthearted look at the disco lifestyle...much different than 'Saturday Night Fever',which is a dark, tragic, serious film. Please watch it again,it's alot of fun.

Yeah, they really piled alot of songs into this movie.Notice that all the songs are by Casablanca and Motown artists only.Since this was a joint project between the two labels, they both wanted to spotlight disco music from their artists.

The soundtrack is filled with alot of underrated gems, such as "Do You Want The Real Thing" by D.C. LaRue,"Trapped In A Stairway" by Paul Jabara (a pop masterpiece) and "After Dark" by Patti Brooks.Btw,the movie was originally titled 'After Dark' but they felt that they needed a more "fun" title,so they changed it.

The soundtrack has a few less-than-brilliant songs.

"Love Masterpiece" by Thelma Houston isn't very good.Diana Ross' contribution "Lovin,Livin,Givin'" sounds like a cheap Giorgio Moroder rip-off and Marathon's "I Wanna Dance" is repetitive filler.

I like the ending of the movie, when the Leatherman convinces the two young girls to go with him to another dance contest at another disco lol

Interestingly,"Je Taime" is the song that inspired Donna's own "Love To Love You Baby",so I guess she finally decided to pay tribute and record her own version.

speaking of dancing....don't you think the dance contest scene was a little disappoining? This should have been the BIG IMPORTANT SCENE of the film, but it's lacking excitement.Plus, the Leatherman was good but his dance partner was terrible, lol.
