She can't stand Beyonce, huh? And yet she was photographed kissing her at the premiere of the film "Cadillac Records." That's the irony. I don't know, it does look two-faced tho. Whatever, both of them need to SIT DOWN! Aretha, come back and slap the both of them with your titties. "Beyonce and Etta, you're not the queens, I AM!" Shame, shame.....see you ain't right.

Maybe something happened that Etta didn't like between the Cadillac Records premiere and the inaugural ball for her to make those comments.
Whatever the case why does Etta remind me of Tina Knowles a few years from now? Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

that said, i don't think it was a matter of ego from bey's side, but rather a lack of better judgement. she had lots of [proper] platforms to plug that damn film afterall Well, the "he's not 'my' president" comment pretty much defines why she was uninvited. As to the choice of songs, I think it fit the situation. I know people on here hate Beyoncé but Etta is out of place on this one. I'm sure these people would have done another song if everyone had have known she was going to act such a fool over it. What's done is done. There's really nothing that can be said at this point. Fair enough. HOWEVER..... At this point, Etta is looking at Beyonce the same way our fellow orger Vainandy is looking at Whitney Houston: Shit! As long some of us true fans of Real Music finds this drama entertaining to watch, then I say let Etta bitch on.

James on Beyonce: Just a joke
Thursday, February 5, 2009 By VANESSA FRANKO The Press-Enterprise Hear the audio from TMZ. Warning: Not intended for young listeners. One of the most popular ballads in the canon of American music has started a cat fight -- or a comedy show. The song in question is "At Last," made famous by Woodcrest resident Etta James and recently brought back into the pop culture limelight thanks to Beyoncé's performance for the first dance at President Barack Obama's inaugural ball and the 2008 film "Cadillac Records." James talked about Beyoncé's version on stage in Seattle Jan. 28, according to a report in The Seattle Times and also at a concert in Coquitlam, British Columbia on Jan. 31 in an audio clip from Crown City Media, said she would "whip" the pop star for singing her song, in language that would warrant at least a PG rating. She also poked fun at Obama's ears and said he "ain't my president." Gossip sites such as TMZ have labeled it celebrity feud, but James said she was just trying to make people laugh. "I'm a comedian besides a singer," James said in a telephone interview from her home on Thursday morning. "I wasn't doing it to be hateful." In the audio clip from the Canadian show, the audience can be heard laughing at James' comments before she goes into "At Last." James said her comments were meant to be taken as, "She's up here singing my song, now what am I gonna do?" Beyoncé's representatives had no comment on James' remarks. The singer has never shied away from speaking her mind on stage. "I think I'm funny and she's not the only one I'll say something about," she said. A self-admitted critic, the 71-year-old said in a December interview that she liked the film "Cadillac Records" and Beyoncé did a good job portraying her. However, James takes a lot of pride her signature song, and would have liked to have an opportunity to sing the song at the inaugural ball, where Beyoncé performed. "She got up there and sang it and didn't give me a chance to sing 'At Last,'" James said. In the audio clip from the Canadian concert, James said, "He ain't my president, he might be your president." James said she was just talking about his ears and said, "He's the United States' president."

SO IM CONFUSED was this premiere appearance BEFORE or AFTER beyonce accepted and performed ettas song? I guess it would have to be AFTER since the inauguration took place in 2009 huh? Etta better be glad she did it in Canada and not somewhere like Los Angeles. Otherwise, she wouldn't hear the last of the boos. Especially for OUR president.

Copycat said: Feel the hate: Etta James and Beyonce at the Cadillac Records” Premiere Nov 2008. Yeah, Etta can't stand her. This was in November and it was a publicity shoot for the movie "Cadillac Records", so I fail to see how this makes the audio recording a "joke". Even if she felt the way she said she does in the audio, what was she supposed to do in front of the media? Knock Beyonce down and pull out her Remy hair? I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

No, she could've declinded the offer to pose for a photo with her, given that she can't "stand her". Why behave like a two-faced loser?
