Where's the rest? I was waiting for Etta to sing her song. Also, don't know how true, but the First Lady I've read somewhere, have it in for Beyonce, too because she has a thing for Obama since 2007. If she don't clean up her act, she's not allowed into the White House again, according to Mrs. Obama.

She should never show such bitterness. There is no class in being bitter.

She might be bitter, but a lot of people would think rightly so. She's still alive, still performing and they get some booty-shaking half-talent to sing her song? Shit, if it was me I'd have been pissed too.

i can understand her anger (if that's really her) over her own song being performed at such historic event, but not only because she's alive and uninvited, but more importantly, because she has been a proper witness of history herself. so At Last would've naturally made much more sense coming from her.

that said, i don't think it was a matter of ego from bey's side, but rather a lack of better judgement. she had lots of [proper] platforms to plug that damn film afterall lol

I heard about this but then heard that it wasn't really Etta but a comedian.

If you get a chance, check out some of her live performances (maybe on youtube?
confuse)...I've been listening to her concerts and going to her shows for the last 18 some years, and I swear if that's an impersonator, they're doing a FLAWLESS impression...but actually, I doubt it. It sounds TOTALLY like her to me lol

So it is her. Hilarious. Who'd a thought that the chick to finally throw a little salt at Beyonce would be old enough to be her grandmother! lol Don't know what her issue with Barry is but he's her prez whether she likes it or not unless she's an expat.

I heard that too and I thought don't let her be the Monroe to our president but I think Michelle will knock her the f*ck out before Beyonce could even get her weave straight.

And if there's any truth to it Michelle already let her know she better keep her distance.

I wouldn't be supriced if her daddy tried to pimp her to Obama, but I don't think there's anything there.

I don't think there's anything there either oh, but the drama of it all. Perhaps it's just my imagination getting the best of me... to finally see Beyonce laid out with wig askewed and stilleto hanging off. What dreams may come.

She wasn't impressed. Said something to the effect "She's too refined & boojie to play me, I'm far from that".

Can't remember the whole quote.

Beyonce has said that she didn't even meet Etta James until after the movie was finished.Normally, when you're getting ready to play a famous person in a film, you meet with them beforehand so that you can learn a thing or two,but "Queen Beyonce" felt that she didn't need to do this rolleyes

Hell, she also said Etta was one of her heroes but it sounds like she didn't even know the woman existed until she heard about the movie let alone knew who she was or what her story was.

Yeah, she hasn't even called her to get tips and such which I found rather odd since thats the job of a REAL "actor/actress" is to dig in the character's background lol

Its no wonder why the role she played in was so morbid.

Josephine Baker - Lynn Whitfield : professional actress

Dorothy Dandridge - Halle Berry : professional actress

Tina Turner - Angela Bassett : professional actress

And Etta James - "Beyonce" lol : can't act worth a goddamn.

YEP, I totally understand if Ms.James felt left out of greatness.

Seems like back in the day people were trained to be double and triple threats. They went to school or studied to be actors, singers and dancers. Yes, a few stumbled into another craft but many honed their skills in an institution and with teachers. Now everybody who sings and raps is trying to act and they barely finished grade school let alone Yale drama. I'm not saying everyone has to be trained I'm just saying it's an interesting trend. Guess this goes along with singers not knowing how to play instruments or read music. They just know how to hold a mic and if our ears are lucky maybe, just maybe they can stay on key too.
