80s pop song of the day: "Things Can Only Get Better" by Howard Jones (1985) Who remembers this bright, cheerful mid-80s song with its memorable hook ("whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa")?
You gotta love those 80s [Edited 2/4/09 4:21am]

I just heard this song recently, and was reminded that he wrote some really good pop fluff, like What is Love.
Really well crafted songs, and though they sound incredibly 80's, they still sound good. My Legacy

It'll do, it'll do. Nothing great but nothing horrible either. Just kinda inbetween.

I graduated in May of that year and if I remember correctly, I think I heard that song for the first time after I graduated. I remember that year well because the first part of 1985 was pretty good but things got horrible after I graduated. Little miss you-know-who came out that summer so you know I can't forget that year. Oh well, at least she waited till after I graduated so she couldn't ruin my senior year. Andy is a four letter word.

What kind of question is that? Just about anyone who was alive back then remembers that song. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

was this song a big hit? It peaked at #5 on the Hot 100 and #6 in the UK. Only "No One Is to Blame" (#4 also in '85) surpassed it here. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

yup! I have the 12" too. A good long version.
The other HJ song I liked was Life In One Day. "Hyperactive when I was small, Hyperactive now I'm grown, Hyperactive 'till I'm dead and gone"
