John Lennon's "Walls & Bridges" album is excellent

I know this album since July 2001. Many fans despise it, because it's not as raw as some of his eralier solo stuff. But for me, this is an excellent album which I could recommend to any starter!
Most of the songs have some intersting changes or middle parts and almost all of them have the characteristically autobiographic touch.

the first intersting song is Going Down On Love.

This has so many twists. I so love the "Somebody please, please help me" part. It's a complete different thing than the rest, quiet and weak...

the second song, "Whatever Gets You...." is pretty commercial. It's a fun song with Elton but it's a Jealous Guy rip off. If you know the demo version, you know what I mean. John slipped into a few lines of Jealous Guy when he first composed "Whatever"

the third song is intersting too, again, many twists and changes.

#9 Dream sounds really dreamy and has an unconventional song structure.

Bless You reminds me a bit of Stevie. It has a lush, black feeling and with Stevie I mean the way he sings "Windswept child on a shoo-hoo-ting star"

Nobody Loves You (When You're Down and Out)" is another overlooked Lennon classic. It has a Sinatra style which makes it different from most of teh other songs,

Overall, i like how he was influenced by the hip stars like Bowie and Elton John. That's what he did when he was in the Beatles. He copied other people's style! And W&B is a perfect album for 1974. This album should remind people why Lennon is considered as one of the greatest songwriters!!

Yeah, there's some great stuff on this. nod Often overlooked in favour of the John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band and Imagine albums.
