The real treat was getting Charlie to sing on it. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

I was going to ask if you had ever heard the song, but then I watched the clip and noticed they took Charlie out! WTF?! I didn't know there was a version without him. Here you go: "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

Yeah, he did sing in his real voice on one part after he goes "You aaaaarrrre..." then "such a sweet delight" where he mixes the talk box vocal with his real vocal. He does it again when he goes "my computer love" (the first time) during the last bridge.

Oh I didn't know who that male voice was either. I thought maybe it was Roger without the talkbox.
I listened to this song a million times, I just didn't know who did what on it.

I listened to this song a million times, I just didn't know who did what on it. You should've been recognized Charlie Wilson's vocals by now. Charlie is what you call an ICON and LEGEND. Roger wasn't even that good of a singer without the talk box but he did the talk box/vocoder so creatively that it didn't matter. You should hear his early joints when he DOES sing like on "Brand New Player" from the ZAPP album, he sings in his real voice only on that one (the third verse in that song). I think he also sings in his real voice on "Be Alright" (the one that features Bobby Glover singing mainly all the parts, Roger's parts come in when he's like "put your hand in mine-e-ine, girl" and "this little thing we got, it's gonna work out fine, yeah-yeah-yeah") in other parts, he just plays his guitar. Charlie SHOULD make his vocals licensed that only he, himself and Charlie sing in that way.

I had to do a double take at the title because I thought it was about Prince, but ok, his is Computer Blue. However, I saw her when she first came out in the mid 80's. She sang at this NY club called the Shadow. She had blonde hair, heavier, and can blow.

If you gonna do a double take then it shoulda been about Kraftwerk. To be truthful, I have never heard of Kraftwerk, but I see. [Edited 2/3/09 6:49am]

To be truthful, I have never heard of Kraftwerk. group from Germany that came out in the 70s and built a lot of their own synths made futuristic schitt "Computer Love" is from their 1981 album and Coldplay stole the melody for "Talk"

This song makes me
And that song is a testimony that DJ Quik & Eric Sermon(esp Quik) learned Roger's tricks to a TEE!!! I'd say Shirley influenced a load of 90s female RnB singers and Charlie did the same for 90s male singers. [Edited 2/3/09 7:48am]
