any orgers looking forward to this new release next month....their last cd 'fundamental' was excellent...every track a winner...

from reports, this new one is deemed to be more poppy, along the lines of 'very'

isn't the album called "YES" and the first single "love etc"?

anyway, i'm curious but not all too anxious.

they kind of slipped off my radar after very/relentless which
was the last psb release i loved all the way through.

i only like a couple of songs from all subsequent albums and
have never really had that pet shop boys experience again in
the last decade and a half.

somehow "se a vida e" or whatever the hell it's called put me
off the pet shop boys thoroughly, even after i'd been a fan of
every single song from please up to that moment. i thought the
song was THAT bad. horrible horrible.

it was like walking in on your parents fucking or something. it
scarred me, deeply.

having said that there are a lot of bsidse i don't know too
well yet so i should listen to those some more and try to do
a few "alternate" versions of the last 3 or 4 albums just to
see if i can crack them better that way.

for instance, some of the bsides to fundamental were so much
more classic PSB than the rather lackluster album tracks.

But yeah, was pretty lackluster. I sort of felt that way about most of the stuff after Nightlife, but Fundamental did grow on me a bit, especially the remixes.

I still have a soft spot for them, will get anything they put out, even if I have to hide it when friends come over.

i loved it when they put out those "further listening" versions of

hamsterhuey always kind of raises an eyebrow when he hears me say
something about the pet shop boys. but i don't care, lol, they've
made some incredibly good music in their carreer.

both in the early stages as well as recently. but i do hate that
fucking se a vida song with a passion, lol.

"Fundamental" is growing into one of my favorite PSB albums. Not sure about "Yes" though. The Popjustice review makes it sound too midtempo!

I think Yes will be cool. peppeken, I allready started seceral threads for the album. With the correct album title as the headline.

Totally feel you on your post. After Se a vida e and that album, I sort of tuned out until PopArt and then tuned back in. While I never became a huge fan of Release, I really Enjoyed Nightlife except for NYC Boy...which for me was way gay sounding. I did enjoy he last album, but only some of it. Too many ballads mixed in and I thought the B-Sides were better than some of the songs.

I am looking forward to the new one. There is always something good on all of their albums. At least Niel can still write a good lyric and Chris is still decent creating the music. Can't say the same for Erasure, who lost me a long time ago.
