Was she asked instead of Beyonce? I believe she was asked but turned it down. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

People have to find negativity in everything (from the lip syncing accusation which is standard for the NFL including Whitney,Faith Hill and others to her somehow her winning the spot by default because Beyonce turned it down). The fact is, it was a very moving rendition that not only brought tears to my eyes, but a few of those football players as well. Jennifer Hudson's vocals are powerhouse, be it live or pre recorded. I thought Jennifer did good.
All the Super Bowl national anthems were lipped, no biggie.

A "canned" performance simulating a "live" rendition is completely lame. She might as well of produced a video to show on the jumbotron.

I find it REALLY disappointing that someone with a voice like hers felt the need to lip sync.

Was she asked instead of Beyonce? They asked her to sing the anthem at some inaugural event and she declined. As for the lip syncing, I don't understand why they feel it's necessary to do the pre-show to pre-recorded vocals but the halftime show is done live. If it's the same venue, same acoustics, what's the difference? [Edited 2/2/09 20:15pm]

That they want a perfect performance vocally and acoustically? What if she had laryngitis the morning of the SuperBowl? A head cold and couldn't hold a note? I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

That's silly, I'm sure they could find someone well to do it live in no time, it's the Superbowl!

Heck, and I thought sure she was going to cover the Super Bowl, too. Nice for a change. Jen sounded good. [Edited 2/3/09 6:21am]

Let's not forget that The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, lip-synched the National Anthem at the Super Bowl a couple of years ago. And she was busted from the first note because she missed her cue when the word "Oooo" came out and her mouth was still closed!!! "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! From what I understand, pre recorded tracks is standard for the NFL. Fact is, Jennifer Hudson has the vocal ability to sound just as good live. Not many of the manufactured artist today can say that. Any issues, take it up with the NFL. Jennifer will definately be singing live at the Grammys. [Edited 2/3/09 7:17am] lol yeah like when 30 seconds of porn flashed on the screen. Maybe instead of worrying about Jennifer Hudson's performance, they should be looking out for actualgaffs.
