As are Prince's. However, Bruce has been considerably more productive in recent years & does not bore his audience with cover after cover. Furthermore, Springsteen is not afraid to take a stand politically, to express himself & to identify with his fans. He's a much bigger talent & a much bigger person than Prince in a lot of ways.

Prince takes contrarian political stands and has had more pointed political songs over the last ten years than any other mainstream artist (Rainbow Children, Avalanche, the War, Dear Mr. Man, Planet Earth, Colonized Mind, numerous anti-corporate, anti-war, anti-Bush lyrics).

And for productive, check out NEWS, ONA, Xpectation, Rainbow Children, Musicology, 3121, Planet Earth, and his current three releases (since 2002).

Bruce has called P a genius.

? I question that. Where did you find this quote?

Bruce said in 1982 after a LA concert how great P was. he said the same during the 1984 Born in the USA tour.

But since then? I just heard that he made fun of Prince change name once in Miami in a late 90's show. That's it.

Ace

Bruce said in 1982 after a LA concert how great P was. he said the same during the 1984 Born in the USA tour.

Springsteen said, in the early '80s, that Prince was his favorite live performer of the time. Prince was also backstage in St. Paul, at the opening of the Born in the U.S.A. tour and was invited by Bruce to guest. The little guy demurred, saying, 'No, man - it's your crowd; I wouldn't want to impose'. Springsteen ended up guesting with Prince the next year at the L.A. Forum.

Prince also took in a Tunnel of Love tour show and at least one show on the Rising tour.

But since then? I just heard that he made fun of Prince change name once in Miami in a late 90's show. That's it.

You're referring to something he said at a Staples Center show in '99:

Good evening, office supply lovers! I was telling the folks the other night, I...I've been trying to meet Mr. Staples and...it's been a little difficult.

So, yesterday, I went through Los Angeles history to see if there was a Governor Staples or a Mayor Staples. But I didn't have any luck (thought I might bump into him backstage or in one of the sky-boxes). But they said, "No, it's just a company," just kinda continuing in the trend of, you know, corporate naming of a public space.

Actually, I read something in the papers yesterday - they're actually gonna be changing some city names! New York City is gonna be renamed "Barnes & Noble City". ...There's gonna be a Barnes & Noble Yankees and, uh, I think that they've changed the name of Madison Square Garden as of next month to "Colonel Sanders Garden". I think even government agencies are gonna be renamed. I believe the FBI is gonna be called "Bob's Big Boy Bureau of Investigation" (all the cops' helicopters will be sporting Bob's Big Boy).

Miami got the toughest break: Miami's just gonna be the Nike swoosh symbol. It's actually gonna have no name, it's gonna be kinda like Prince: it's gonna be known as "The City Formerly Known as Miami". That's right...you'll get used to it. And they're gonna be changing all the sky-boxes to temporary housing for downsized corporate executives. Anyway, it's a brave new world; we just work here!

In 2007, Bruce's wife, Patti, released her third solo album (Play It as It Lays). From her press kit:

("Rainy Day Man") also gave me a chance to be light and have some fun and experiment with some of those out harmonies like Prince does.
