Two fairly decent R&B albums....

So I'm checkin' out some of the newer music and I have to give props to a couple of contemporary R&B records: NOT funk, NOT neo-soul but contemporary R&B.
J Holiday's "Back of My Lac" and Ryan Leslie's self=titled CDs are both fairy decent. Neither of them would be Vainandy approved but for people who are into contemporary R&B, I'd say check both of them out. The J. Holiday surprised me because I thought he'd be an Usher clone. Instead I find out that he's cloning a few other people, too. lol
Neither of these two are geniuses but they are worth checking out if you like contemporary R&B. J's record has more ballads while Ryan's is a bit more uptempo. While they are not musical milestones, they do have decent production value to them. You can hear that work went int to them.

I own the Holiday cd but it is still in the the "have not listened 2" pile.

I could use some good male R&B

I tried with Ryan Leslie....I really did but couldn't get into his music. Now J. Holiday, I liked about 3 songs from Back Of My Lac

I agree that Ryan Leslie's production is really, really good but both will be forgotten in three years.

"Overdose" is a very cool track by Ryan Leslie. Had it on repeat for weeks a few years ago.

And I like "Suffocate" by J. Holiday.

How it was Supposed to Be - Ryan Leslie, is my current favorite song.
