DOWNLOAD NOW! Deep Soul - Tearjerkers that make grown men cry. Wouldn't you agree that the most heartfelt songs were recorded in the 1960s and are part of the Soul genre? I think that the classics of Deep Soul are terribly underrated on this site. On our radio show Midnight Soulstice, we'll play a special of the deepest tearjerkers tonight (this Friday), tunes that will make grown man cry. Let me know what your favorite songs are - maybe we can add some to the playlist. But as usual, we focus on the less known material - all on vinyl 45s - and our goal is to open a whole new world of music to our listeners instead of just playing the same ole songs.

This show is a must for Soul fans, and a great one to download and save for those heartache moments or - the opposite - when you are ready to get it on. I remember hearing BB King's The Thrill is Gone for the first time and had such a melancholy reaction to it having just broken up with my first live in partner.
Maybe it was my personal situation that made it so emotional for me but it's a great song and even though it was straight blues my soul station - WVON in Chicago- played the heck out of it. AAlso, can't think of any individual songs right now but as an artist who could mmake me feel that way almost every time, Solomon Burke was da man. | |

But he shouldn't be limited to Blues, he transcends this genre. I'm gonna go through my Solomon Burke 45s .. for some reason, I don't have much by him. But isn't because I don't like him. No doubt, he's one of the top notch singers of the 1960s. | |

Speaking of the Unifics, you should add "The Beginning Of My End", which is probably the saddest song I've ever heard. It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

Here are a few from Otis Redding that I just listened to yesterday... ...These Arms Of Mine (1963) ...Pain In My Heart (1964) ...I've Been Loving You Too Long (1965) ...Try A Little Tenderness (1966) Sam & Dave... ...When Something Is Wrong With My Baby (1967) Maybe more later. Here are a few from Otis Redding that I just listened to yesterday... Good picks. I've been loving you too long is one of my top 5 favorite Soul ballads. It blows me away every time I hear it. Tenderness comes close. I packed both records for tonight's show, but I'm not yet sure if they'll get a spin. We kinda want to play some stuff people haven't heard before, and these tracks are monsters. : | |

We just got word from the technical support from W-RIR in Richmond that the webstream won www.wrir.org is currently down. The station has recently upgraded the stream, but has had some problems with it.
We don't know if the stream will be back up by the time we'll go on air at 11 p.m. EST - so we just wanted to let you know that you may not be able to listen tonight. In that case, you can still listen to the download of tonight's show, which we will upload tomorrow. | |

Actually, no, I don't agree. In my opinion, the most heartfelt soul music was made in the early 70's It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

Actually, no, I don't agree. In my opinion, the most heartfelt soul music was made in the early 70's Fair enough. Then you better not miss next week's show.
