Stuff that I delved into on my own in the last year or so after years and years of people I knew being into them and trying to persuade me. I already had a lot of it on my iPod, and I've been insatiable for new music (actually new or new to me), so I went ahead and listened to it, and sought out more.
Since it's a pretty quiet time for new releases, I'm going back and getting even more familiar with a lot of it. At the moment, lots of Smiths, Morrissey, the Cure, Eurythmics, Depeche Mode, New Order, Joy Division, Pet Shop Boys, Joni Mitchell, Sade, Kate Bush, Talking Heads, k.d. lang, Al Green, Marvin Gaye, etc. It's been awhile since I've been "obsessed" with and taken on any "new" artists, but now I'm doing it with like 20 at the same time and giving most of my old favorites a rest.

I've barely listened to anything new in the past year - I bought three new albums in '08, which is unheard of for me. I don't know if it's just a lull (I've had those before, of course - just not for such a length of time) or the onset of middle age or (most likely option here) general malaise from work stress, but I just have no appetite to seek out anything right now. I've spent most of my listening time with the old faithfulls - Dylan, the fall, scud mountain boys, robert wyatt & the pernice brothers.
Also, in the past month I've actually begun to listen to, of all things, Prince - for the first time in years I went back and gave almost every album a serious listen. I was kinda shocked to find out that I actually like about a third of Emancipation.

Graham Central Station Jamiroquai (Never heard of this group till last year ...) Sarah Vaughan I'm witcha dude on the EWF Alive in 75 album. Dem boyz show their ass on this album. Maurice is killer on the kalimba. I dig evil, sun goddess, Kalimba story, and yearnin learnin. The whole live cd is killer in a nutshell. I've also been listening to EWF's Raise and Powerlight albums as well. Don't laugh at my funk
