She needs Clive.

She needs better material and some REAL producers.

Like I said, she needs Clive. I can totally see her being a new Whitney.

It's never too late. She just needs to get a record company behind her. A decent manager and some GOOD and MARKETABLE material and she can be successful. Hell, she won a Grammy for the Nelly song she did, why can't she win another one by herself?

I really liked her 2nd album, but it wasn't properly promoted. Sure, "Like This" was a success, but no one heard anything else from the project. I was hoping that "Comeback" would be a hit, but it got pushed aside for a single from the Beyonce project.

I wouldn't go that far and say she's "Whitney" good, but she can hold her own. She's not the best singer, but she should be able to maintain a career. If she chooses not to sing, she should be able to act. She's beautiful enough to do a tv show or something.

I don't mean voice quality cuz that doesn't even matter anymore today. I mean image wise, she's cute, skinny, non-threatening, could appeal to a broad audience, looks good in an evening gown, can kinda sing, etc. Clive is a master at crafting an image and getting good producers. Yeah, it'll be a lot of syrupy ballads but there isn't anyone doing that right now. hmmm

Kelly Rowland splits from Beyonce's manager dad

NEW YORK – Kelly Rowland says she will always be a part of Beyonce's family, but she no longer will be managed by the superstar's father.

Rowland and Matthew Knowles announced Wednesday that he is bowing out as her manager. He's guided her career since she was kid, when he put her in Destiny's Child along with Beyonce. He even helped raise her.

Both Rowland and Knowles — who still manages daughter Beyonce — called the split amicable. Both say they will always be family.

Rowland has sold millions of records as part of Destiny's Child, but her solo career hasn't matched that success.

Rowland — who turns 27 next month — did not say who her new manager will be.

Smart move for Ms Kelly. I hope that she can finally get some big success of her own so she can break away from being in Beyonce's shadow. With that said, she needs to get some producers and songs that are worth a damn for the next CD. The little I heard from the last CD was pure garbage.

I'm going to play devil's advocate now.....do you think she's "too dark" skinned to appeal to the masses? If you look at most of the black females that are out now, most are either pretty light (Beyonce) or carmel colored (Ciara). She looked good with DC as a group, but the media never focused on either Michelle or Kelly. It was always on Beyonce. It was always rumored that Farrah (from the 2nd incarnation of DC) was kicked out of the group for being "too pretty".

I, personally, don't think that she's too dark or anything like that. I just don't know how the masses would take her as a solo artist.

She's about the same color as Whitney. And I think she comes across as sweet and nonthreatening enough to be acceptable to the masses. So, in THIS case I don't think it would be an issue. I don't think skin tone is the reason she didn't get much attention in DC I think that was all about pushing Bey to the forefront.

I agree. She changed her schtick both times when her albums came out. So, there's a sense that we don't really know who she is as an artist.

And I thought "LIke This" was horrible and too trashy for her.

I think her new manager should focus on her acting career.

its not the management its the whole climate of american rb in general. If you aint Beyonce at this point, you aint getting played, unless you are some sort of fluke case. The producers here suck, they are weaving everyone into the same sound, so she could have "joe the hitmaker" behind her, it really doesnt matter. RB females like Kelly,Mya,Ameri are all suceeding in other markets because there is no where to go in the USA. I thought we all knew this already?

I see your point but right now mary j. blige(of course), jazmine sullivan,
and keyshia cole are burning up the r&b charts too and while i am no huge
fan of either their material sounds better than beyonce's right now.
Diva is one of the hottest mess i've heard in a long time.

well Mary and Keyshia are almost the same person, Mary had the following long before Beyonce was born, so her status isnt touched. As for Jazmine, shes a fluke, the public digs her now, but i can see them pulling an Angie Stone on her and not paying any attention to her next album, considering the fact that her hit "bust your windows" is more of the same, wounded female, burning shit down vibe that every song from a female in RB has.

Very true. There is that unspoken rule (like the modeling industry) that only one Black female can be on top at a time. Rihanna, who was first marketed as Beyonce #2 got the memo, changed her game and was able to escape "Beyonceism".

with how close Kelly is to the family, this is basically the same as that

Rumor has it that Kelly is really Beyonce's half sister. I', not co signing on it, just putting it out there.

No, Michelle's Cindy Birdsong. They're trying to make Letoya Luckett the Flo Ballard of 2009 but it ain't happening. La Tavia Roberson is Barbara Martin (one of the original Supremes when they were a quartet) and Farrah Franklin is Lynda Laurence, the member of the Supremes who joined briefly for about a year though Farrah left about four or five minutes into it, lol. We know Beyonce's Miss Ross. lol
