And look! He's being sued yet again!

African singer sues Michael Jackson and Rihanna
3 hours ago

PARIS (AFP) — Cameroonian singer Manu Dibango lodged a lawsuit against king of pop Michael Jackson and R'n'B diva Rihanna at a Paris court on Tuesday, claiming they stole a hook from one of his songs.

French judges will decide on February 17 whether to allow the 75-year-old African's case against the artists to be heard. He is reportedly seeking 500,000 euros in damages.

Jackson had already accepted that parts of Dibango's 1972 "Soul Makossa" were used on the track "Wanna be Startin' Something" on the 1983 album "Thriller," and the singers had reached a financial settlement.

But in 2007, Rihanna -- apparently in good faith -- obtained Jackson's permission to use the same section of melody on her hit single "Please don't stop the music," without also contacting the original artist Dibango.

Separately, Paris-based Dibango's lawyers have asked the French courts to block record labels Sony BMG, EMI and Warner from receiving any income from the records until the matter is settled.

So let's get this straight. The creep admitted that he had taken the chant from Dibango, and then when Rihanna sampled the same chant, it didn't cross Michael's mind that Dibango might be entitled to royalties. Same story, different day.

yeah like the purple one has never "borrowed" other people's stuff
and at least mj didn't copy it word for word

It is probably best remembered for the chanted vocal refrain "Mama-ko, mama-sa, ma-ka-ma-ko-ssa", which was believed to be used by Michael Jackson's on his 1983 "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" But Michael chants "Ma Ma Se, Ma Ma Sa, Ma Ma Coo Sa" on Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' in the Swahili language (per Quincy Jones' writings) unlike Dibango's Soul Makossa where he sings in Duala a Cameroonian language. though they have the same cadence ( and michael was probably influenced by Manu's song) they're in different tongues. It is also sampled in the hip hop song "Face Off" by artist Jay-Z on his album In My Lifetime, Vol. 1. "Makossa" means "(I) dance" in Duala.[6]- wikipedia
