I basically sailed through the 90's without listening to the radio that much, but that group... Brownstone caught my attention/ear. That group is the prime example of what went and is wrong with the music industry: Those ladies had loads of talent and yesteryear, a record company would've had the patience to see them through earlier project as uneven as they were. Now, if you don't come out blasting your kicked dropped and NEXT.....

TD3, I couldn't agree more. Brownstone is my favorite girl group of the 90's as well. All those girls could SANG! I have both of their CDs' but use to play the first one to death. It's not one song I hated on "From The Bottom Up" I liked En Vogue and Jade too.

What is with those not giving SWV their due. I mean, that debut album is crazy and the follow ups had their merits.

Brownstone Loved them ladies!!!! vocally were one of the few groups who could match Envouge. another group in the 90's who I thought were severly underrated and didn't get enough exposure were Pure Soul those ladies SANG their butts off!!! loved Jade,Xscape,For Real,Drama,Emmage,Eternal,Total, TLC, and SWV did some good crossover jams.
I am not African. Africa is in me, but I cannot return.
I am not taína. Taíno is in me, but there is no way back.
I am not european. Europe lives in me, but I have no home there.
I am new. History made me. My first language was spanglish.

I left R&B behind in the 90s. I'd just about had enough of the jack swing/hip hop beats that infected the entire genre by then. Going through my collection, I have just one album by a female R&B group from that period and that's Ex-Girlfriend's first album. I guess that makes them my favorite.

I thought I was the only one that remembered Eternal smile . I have their cassette single for their jam "Stay." It's a shame how they're aren't any good female singing groups out now. Or males for that matter.

I always mean to bring up "Stay" when people talk about covers that are better than the original. I like Glenn Jones and all, but their version is better in every possible way.
