He looks a little like Brown in this pic:

A little more info regarding his possible jail time...

"Snipes was sentenced to three years in prison in April 2008 after he was convicted of federal income tax evasion, so while the actor remains free while awaiting an appeal, Lee will need to rush in order to get this film made with Snipes in the lead role. We were kind of leery about whether Snipes still had the ability to take on such a high-profile performance, especially considering how his last six films were Direct-to-DVD, by-the-books action movies filmed in Europe while he was in exile from the U.S. But then we remembered Snipes’ turns in Major League and White Men Can’t Jump and felt better about the casting choice.

Lee and Paramount Pictures acquired the rights to the Brown biopic shortly after the singer died in 2006 of heart failure. Snipes signed on for the role in 2007. Lee has his hands full in 2009, with a planned Inside Man sequel and a Michael Jordan documentary also in the works."

Wesley didn’t even dance in Bad. Well, he does Capoeira, does that count?

With Eddie being the obvious choice, I wonder if Spike felt that there would be too much of a comedic connection if Eddie played it. Eddie and that imitation is so linked to SNL and his routines that I can imagine the audience giggling even through the most dramatic parts because its ingrained in our memories. And if one line even remotely is reminiscent of something Eddie’s previously done it’s over. Wesley in this character is fresh slate.

Yeah Eddie has James' vocals down pat and I don't think the actor needs to worry about the dancing, they'll use stunt doubles. lol

Wesley was supposed to play Otis Redding back in the late 80's when a biopic was slated. The he was rumoured to play Miles in another biopic in 92.

Spike should have found someone unknown to play JB. I've seen Wayne Brady impersonate James and probably would have been pretty good too.

And that picture is NOT Kevin Hooks. He still looks the same but older.

Wesley is 1/2 a century old, to be exact

And I know JB(god rest his soul) was a lil' too busted and bucktoothed in the face, but a younger blood might bring a fresher outlook,,,,thats just me though.

STILL...

In this day & age, I'm content with Wesley,,,at least the man is a skilled actor and not some rapper/singer turned actor wink lol

How is this muthafucka gonna go from doing exercise infomercials with Chuck Norris and Billy Joel's ex wife to playing James muthafuckin Brown?!

What about Leo, he already has a knack for playing musicians like Little Richard, David Ruffin and Eddie Kang Junior?

But, on the real, Eddie Griffin would have been perfect about 12 years ago ...

nod i agree on that one.

I just don't think ole Wes is the right choice. He would have to lose some of that muscle because James was built but he wasn't a "body builder" type. And yes, dance lessons would have to be required. As far as the pay, well guess maybe he'll have to call up G. Money for the paper...at least he making some on that wack ass Tyler Perry show.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Better than Beyonce. You know she tried out.
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.
