Great track. Didn't Bobby play guitar on this joint too?

He played guitar (and vibes, and bass, and keyboard, and drums) on several tracks from the album, but I'm not sure what the breakdown is by track.

Oh OK... because I know Bobby has primarily focused on his keyboard talent.

Did 112 and Biggie, sample this for "Sky's the Limit", or a least the intro? It sounds so familiar.

Some "crack" on these one song/one Cd wonders (I dislike the term but for lack of a better one..) but Caldwell's made a career and a damn goood living off the strength/success of "What You Won't Do For Love" ablum. The guy's huge in Japan. When I was over their some years back, Caldwell was as big as M.J.

I heard about that! Boz Scaggs is big in Japan too I heard. eek It's amazing how some American acts find bigger fame in Japan than they do here or the UK.

Oh, I just meant on the Biggie song that was previously mentioned "Sky's The Limit", which 112 sang the hook on. It is on The Notorious B.I.G.'s second album Life After Death.

I know! Yeah, Scaggs too. They stick with you, unlike here in the States; when the next flavor of the month comes and fan/radio stations drop yo'azz like a bad habit. Caldwell/Scaggs who?

Great track from an equally great album. I just love those guitar driven R and B jams. headbang

Exactly. We're very fickle in the U.S. and that sucks.

Bobby Caldwell - Open Your Eyes

It's interesting that after all these years, this track has become an underground classic, thanks to sampling and remakes from everyone, from Common and Dilla to Dwele...

This is because here in the states, we get too interested in who the artist is sleeping with, what color did he dye his skin today, etc. Overseas, they just care about the music. This is why Michael, I believe likes overseas more. They just accept him the way he is. Here, we are just too busy looking for him to fail.
