I love when this movie comes up in here. lol I wish a soundtrack would have followed it, because there's some great shit in there! I brought this in to work a few years ago for viewing over lunchtime (I work in an AIDS service organization). Fascinating movie, really. It should have been nominated for the Oscar that year, as it made many critics top 10 lists that year. However, the Academy wanted to focus on films that didn't get as much attention.

Dorian Corey's death was strange! eek The subject of her death (and the mummified body found in her closet) became an off-off Broadway theatre production.

I can't remember the details (and too lazy to search now) but after she died, some of her "children" were rummaging through the clothes in her closet and found a trunk with a mummified body covered in baking soda. It had been there for quite some time and there was a note (I'm paraphrasing perhaps) attached that said "This poor soul broke into my apartment and I had to shoot him."

When I saw the title, I thought this would be about that Hilton skank catching another venereal disease. shrug

I love this movie. It reminds me a lot of my old whoring days. And Pepper LeBeija in those interviews dressed a lot like myself with the leather pants, police hat, and white fur. His attitude was a lot like mine too...."For the next 40 years or so, I'm going to live...and I'm going to still do it lovely. All the young whores hate me cause I'm just beautiful". lol

Harlepolis

I had finished watching this film today for the 1st time.

Pepper LaBeija is THAT bitch worship I swear o' god, she was the SPUNK of that movie.

I was devastated over the death of Venus Xtravaganza during the filming of the documentary. He wanted to settle down somewhere only to be ending up strangled somewhere under a bed in some crummy hotel.

The film was really an emotional roller coaster,,,,,esp when you consider the fact than NEARLY all of them died since the making of the film.
