It's Official: Madonna To Tour This Summer
Madonna fans, are you ready for more?

We are happy to confirm that the rumors are true: Madonna has decided to extend her 'Sticky & Sweet' Tour. She is looking forward to an amazing summer in Europe, hitting the cities she didn't get a chance to in 2008.

While detailed itinerary will be released later this week, we highly encourage you to wait for official on-sale dates and info before ordering tickets to rumored shows and venues.

Get ready for another hot summer.... Madonna is hitting the road again!

Do you think there's a chance she'll play a few US dates too? Maybe the major markets? (fingers crossed).

She should hit some of the U.S. cities she skipped before. She didn't come to DC which is a big market for concerts.

It's not that she hates Australia!

Live Nation is basically non-existent in AUS. THAT's why. They don't want to give their artist over to an independent concert promoter in a part of a country they have no presence, and thus no $ making potential. It's bidness.

That's no excuse. She should play Australia! I feel so bad for the Australian fans.Everytime she announces a tour, they actually start on-line petitions to get her to reconsider, lol.

so,let's have some fun lol How should this tour be revamped? What songs should be removed and what should be added?

I think she should remove these songs:

"Human Nature"
"Ray Of Light"
"Hung Up (rock version)
"Music"

I think she should add these songs:

"Causing A Commotion"
"Dress You Up"
"Express Yourself"
"Hung Up" (dance version)

If she could squeeze "Dance 2Night" into the setlist, that would be cool, too.

You Must Love Me with Take A Bow
Ray Of Light with Holiday
Hung Up Rock with Hung Up Dance

^I think it's unlikely to drop any Hard Candy songs, it's still Sticky & Sweet Tour after all.

"Human Nature" is most likely to be the last thing to be changed, if she's gonna appear on Britney's tour and all...

"Hung Up" rock version can only be dropped if the whole last segment is reimagined. It's one of her biggest hits in Europe and I can't see her doing a new arrangement for it so quickly...

I agree - ive made a playlist of various studio rehearsal versions that has a final segment of:

4 Minutes
Like A Prayer
Holiday (from Reinvention)
Give It 2 Me

Its shorter but it works great.

Those 2 songs on the guitar just kill all the atmosphere after Like A Prayer.

I agree. If she wants to "rock out",she really should save it for an earlier segment.Like on the Confessions tour, she used segment three to strap on her guitar and rock out to "I Love New York" and "Ray Of Light".This worked extremely well and it allowed her to finish the show with a thrilling,dance-heavy final segment. The final segment of a Madonna show should never be about "rock",anyway. That segment should be all about dance music.

HAHAHA I got pwnd! lol

Madonna and Britney Spears both touring Australia this year

By Kathy McCabe

The Daily Telegraph

January 29, 2009 12:01am

Superstars ... Madonna and Britney Spears are both expected to play Australian dates in September

IT'S back on again: Madonna is expected to tour Australia in September.

Now the dust has settled on her divorce, her Madgesty confirmed on her website yesterday she was extending the Sticky And Sweet world tour, The Daily Telegraph reports.

While the official statement confirms she is "looking forward to an amazing summer in Europe", prospective concert dates in Japan and Australia were leaked on her international promoter's site before being quickly pulled.

But not before they were sighted by eagle-eyed fans, who posted the dates on fan blogs.

The leaked itinerary featured four Australian concerts with Madonna scheduled to perform at Sydney's ANZ Stadium on September 26.

A Madonna show at Melbourne's Telstra Dome has been pencilled in for September 29 and is tipped to be confirmed this week.

The Telstra Dome date - a Tuesday - would not clash with the venue's AFL commitments.

Fans may have to shell out $150 for the cheapest seats, given the falling Australian dollar and Madonna's high production costs.

Seats closest to the stage could sell for as much as $400.

The website also listed shows in Brisbane and Perth, as well as Europe and Japan, before being swiftly removed.

The last time Madonna performed in Australia was for the 1993 Girlie Show tour at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Also leaked and then removed from the same Live Nation website were details of the next leg of Britney Spears' world tour - and it looks like the comeback pop princess and Madonna will both be in Australia in September.

Spears was slated to perform three concerts at Sydney's Acer Arena - right next door to the ANZ Stadium where Madonna is booked.

While their proximity would fuel a frenzy of speculation about cameos at each other's shows, it is unlikely Madonna or Spears' jam-packed schedules would allow for an Australian duet.

Local fans and promoters have been willing the dollar to improve to safeguard Australia as a must-do destination on the international touring circuit for the huge stadium acts.

With sales of more than 400,000 tickets for more than 40 shows, Pink has singlehandedly demonstrated that music fans here are determined to be entertained despite hard economic times.

Rock fans remain optimistic that AC/DC, Bruce Springsteen, Metallica and U2 also add Australian legs onto their international tours this year.

I read that she is not just playing shows in Europe and not any shows in the US. Hopefully that will change. This is a first for her extending a tour. I am not sure if I would go see the same show again. The tickets are not cheap. She should change up the setlist. Madonna is always changing and the Sticky and Sweet Tour is old now. I can't see these shows being sold out with the exact same songs as last year. Europe is not really that big and people traveled to see her shows where she performed last year. Here is a suggestion for a new setlist:

Candy Shop
Everybody
Human Nature
Vogue
Into The Groove
Dress You Up
Borderline
She's Not Me
Dance Tonight
Frozen
Rain
Open Your Heart
Miles Away
Don't Cry For Me Argentina
4 Minutes
Like A Prayer
Express Yourself
Holiday
Give It To Me

Now, this would be a kick @ss setlist.
Madonna, Come Back To The US and change the setlist!!!!!

It's old for those who saw it in 2008 yes. But this tour is aimed for people who probably never saw Madonna performing live. She's touring Northern & Eastern Europe heavily now, most of those people are going to see her because she's Madonna, they couldn't care less about whether the songs are repeated or not.

Billboard did say it would be the same production as in 2008:

http://www.billboard.com/...6340.story

Madonna will crank up her Sticky & Sweet tour again this summer with about 25 more shows in the U.K. and Europe, which will add to the total of what's already the top-grossing tour ever by a female or solo artist.

The final leg of the tour will start in London at the O2 Arena on July 4. Madonna will also play the Manchester (U.K.) Evening News Arena, with the rest of the dates on the tour being stadiums in European markets she has either never played or hasn't played in several years, according to tour producer Arthur Fogel, chairman of global music for Live Nation.

Adding another leg to a tour is a highly unusual move for Madonna. "It absolutely has not happened in the four tours I've been involved with," Fogel tells Billboard.com. "There has been talk [of extending] during each one, but it has never come to be. But with this one, she loves the show, she's had a great time and she's excited about playing new markets."

Fogel says the demand is clearly present in these fresh Madonna markets; London is the only repeat market from the 2008 leg. "It's amazing when you look at the number of markets that she's never played, including this last run in 2008," he says. "We went to quite a few markets she has never played or hasn't been to in 15-plus years. This [extension] is really a continuation of that in the sense of playing new and different markets."

Madonna has enjoyed remarkable box office growth over her past four tours, raking in $75 million in 2001, $125 million in 2004, $194 million in 2006 and $280 million last year, according to Billboard Boxscore. All of these tours were produced by Fogel and his team, and all included roughly the same number of dates (55-60 shows). Attendance has also remained steady, and ticket prices were the same on the past two tours, Fogel says.

The extension will take Sticky & Sweet to around 80 shows, and boost it well into the top five grossing tours of all time. Despite the more than six-month break, the tour will feature the same production and performers as 2008. "It is a long hiatus, but everybody was excited to continue," Fogel says. "So we basically worked out the arrangements for all the performers, crew and equipment and we'll be ready to go."

The Sticky & Sweet tour was the first under a 10-year multi-rights agreement between Madonna and Live Nation, valued in some reports at about $120 million.

She shouldn't start working on a new album until late this year. But it would be cool if she released a new single this summer...maybe a new song recorded for a movie? A kickass dance tune to keep fans satisfied.
