This album has been kicking my ass lately! I've been listening to it ALOT.I'm so glad that it was recently remastered.Am I the only one who thinks this is the Jacksons best album?

Every track is excellent.I think "All Night Dancing" is the only track that could be described as filler,but it's good filler.

That album's a monster.

Every track could have been a single imo- they are all killer tracks. Triumph comes a close second for me, but Destiny JUST beats it.

Destiny was recommended to me shortly after I became an MJ fan in the late 80's. I wasn't interested in learning about the Jacksons music at that time (I was still very young and totally and only into Michael) but ended up buying it in the early 90's and became totally obsessed with it. Everything about that album is amazing- lyrically, vocally and musically. It's a masterpiece.

Boogie was not written by any of them but the poppiest song, Push Me Away... have you ever noticed MJ has the habit of titel his songs in imperatives, but in fact they have another context. I.e. the song's called Push Me Away, but it actually says "don't push me away".

I also like the Bee Gees like ... I dunno the name. It's track 4 or 5.

That's What you Get For Being Polite is my absolute favorite. I would love to get a longer version

I wish the remaster had gotten some unreleased tracks.

I actually rate "The Jacksons" number 1 on my list of their CBS/Epic albums, and "Destiny" number 2. But "Destiny" is certainly a FANTASTIC record.

I just prefer it, might be the Gamble and Huff factor, might be Michaels vocals or it might be that the vocals are more shared around.

But that doesn't mean Destiny is the shit too!

I don't know which I like better, "Destiny" or "Triumph". Those are definately the best albums to ever come from any of the Jackson family and definately better than any of Michael's solo work. He should have never left the group. "Off The Wall" was great but he should have stopped after that and continued on with his brothers because it could have inspired more work like this while they were on a roll instead of the pop mess that Michael got into.

Exactly. I don't think "Thriller" is the be-all, end-all masterpiece that everyone else thinks it is. It's a good album and all but it's too diverse and too pop. I actually would have preferred if it had never been made because it's huge success made other R&B acts want to go pop.

IMO i could go with destiny or triumph. They are equally great.
I'm not to crazy about the gamble & huff album(going places). Although let me
show you is great to me the gamble & huff sound just didn't fit
the jacksons style in my opinion. Their sound was strictly a more
mature philadelphia soul that just didn't fit the jacksons.

Even though 'Thriller' crossed over in a major way,I really don't see it as a "sellout" album.Most of the songs I would describe as R&B ("Wanna Be Startin Something","Baby Be Mine","Billie Jean","PYT","The Lady In My Life").Of course,"Beat It" is the obvious crossover rock track but for the most part,I find the album to be very soulful and even funky at times.

-That's how i'd rate the album in order from fave to least fave. I like "Triumph" just a little better, but "Destiny" is a great album too. There's not one song on there that I dislike.

Totally agree that Michael should have stayed w/ his brothers; he lost his soul when he went solo (pun intended.) When I say that to Michael Jackson fanatics they look at me like I'm crazy. A friend even commented that The Jacksons didn't deserve the BMI award (???) because only Michael had talent,

I like Off the Wall, b/c it is basically an r&b album (their roots).Although like everyone else, I was crazy about Thriller in '84, "The Jacksons", "Destiny", "Triumph" and "Off The Wall" are the real deal.

Destiny and Triumph are my fave Jackson's albums. To me, Victory always had a "various artist compilation" feel to it.
