Stevie Wonder question On the liner notes of "Songs in the Key of Life", they listed Susaye Greene as being the background vocalist behind "Joy Inside My Tears" but it sounds like Stevie was doing both the lead and background. I have to believe Susaye was on "Have a Talk with God" because I heard a high note at the end of that song and it sounded like her, can anyone confirm?

I always thought that female vocals complimented Stevie's vocals very well..

I wouldn't be too sure. I saw liner notes on a Mary J. Blige album and they listed a sample from the song "When We (Make Good Love)" as having sampled Marvin's "I Want You" when it was really "Just to Keep You Satisfied" so you can't always think liner notes tell the 100% truth, yanno?

When the chorus starts with "you you you made life his-tory" its stevie at first on lead and background, then when you hear "you ahve done what no one thought could be" is where u hear a female voice added if you listen closely and yeah thats Susaye. With "Have a Talk With God" not sure... I know it's Minnie on Creepin, definitely not Minnie here... I listened to the background vocals with a filter it sounds like either Shirley Brewer or Susaye, hope that helps Tim.

Hmm, interesting... lol. Thanks. Maybe he used that sped-up vocal in "Have a Talk" since there was no background vocals listed on that joint. [Edited 1/21/09 1:42am]

If there is any artists to study the details on it's Stevie.
These 70's albums are flawless. I pray and then pray some more that deluxe editions happen ala The Elvis Costello 2 cd sets, with outtakes, demos, and live. I would also like to see a Stevie approved high rez 5.1 mix done. I think Blue Ray or Dvd-Audio in 5.1 could reveal even more of the things you guys are listening to, but it would have to be Stevie who approves and does the mix's otherwise too many people would probably not respect them. This period,72-79, you are discussing is untouchable in my book by any artist before or since. Music is the best...

Stevie didn't even give Motown the original masters to use as the basis for the recent remastered reissue programme. It's in his contract supposedly that all outtake reels will be destroyed once he passes.
