Usher commits daylight robbery on Joan Armatrading Maybe it's because Joan Armatrading is underneath most people's radar, but it seems like I'm the only one who's noticed that the verse melody on Usher's "In The Club" has been directly stolen from Joan Armatrading's "No Love". They're fucking identical. The rest of the song has a weaker melody. Unfortunately, Joan's original masterpiece (I don't use the word lightly) is not on Youtube so I've got no link for y'all I'm afraid. Her song is beautiful and blunt at the same time. Usher's song is, well..... garbage. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

if it's a direct lift, shouldn't you concede the verse melody on Joan's is garbage too? making it less of a masterpiece than you originally thought.

Look at the bit I highlighted. The stolen melody is great, but that portion only makes up half the song. When it switches to Usher's melody it's garbage. And of course, the production on Usher's is atrocious next to Joan's original, and last but not least, the lyrics on Joan's song are PHENOMENAL! Profound, clever and original. Usher's lyrics are UTTER DRIVEL! Cliched and tiresome. I recommend everyone check out Joan's track. Love songs don't get much better. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

I must admit I've got a soft spot for Keyshia, who I think has such a soulful voice (although she can sound a mess when she tries to dance at the same time as sing). I could never listen to her boring music though. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

Of course Usher is bollocks i'm well aware of that too!

Awful production, awful lyrics, and awful songwriting in the non-stolen section. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

I can't through the whole song so I wouldn't know "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."
