You already getting ready for your time as "Mother of The Church" lol

Ottensen, did you grow up in the states or in Europe?

Chile, please. Midwestern & NE United States. I didn't move to Europe 'til I was grown. My parents were born in the deep south, and my maternal grandma was an old skool, holy rollin', church organist, so you KNOW she didn't play when it came to hats!

I've been collecting vintage fedoras for years now just because of the fashion aspect. But I'm ready to start collecting my wedding and funeral hats now!
lol

You know they're big hat fans in the UK, but here in Germany not.at.all. I used to live in Italy and the Italian ladies rock big hats there too. My ex-boss there (a chief fashion editor) has made it very clear to me that when I have my first child, not only is she the self-declared Godmother, but she and her co-horts will arrive at the Christening "ina BEEEEG HATS!!!!" lol lol lol

The irony is that I really am an adidas/converse street wear kinda chick for everyday clothes. But baby, you give me a wedding or a horserace to go to and I AND my HAT will show up to the celebration and turn that.shit.OUT wink wink wink

lol So much info. I love it. lol

My favorite episode of the Housewives in Atlanta was when they did the big hat luncheon. I need to get the hat designer's name again. And check him out for when I go to the races this year. nod

Here is a site where people photoshopped the hat on others. Only the first page is any good....regular people wearing the hat is boring unless you know them!

Don't forget Oprah's Legends Weekend. Cicely Tyson, Patti LaBelle and Della Reese had on some serious hats.

Oh and her Hat Garden Party.

There are some good hats in this audience: Oprah walking cross the lawn waving during "Oh Happy Day" and Debbie Allen fanning herself at 3:20 almost made me fall out. We hat ladies are such drama queens !

The look of all looks though, was Angela Bassett at 3:53. She turned it OUT bow

falloff Between Debbie Allen with her chin strap and Ashford catching it, I am almost laid out.

That was really something special and I still question why Ashanti was there. I bet the whole time she herself was wondering if she was going to be escorted out any minute as Oprah realized a terrible mistake had been made.

Anywho... sidebar: interesting to look back at events like this and others and see Barack and Michelle. I didn't know who they were back in '05 but I remember Barack standing with Babs and James Brolin and thinking Who's that? lol

I have heard of a lot of singers doing that.

I mean, air con DOES dry the throat somewhat.

On the other hand, is it really the singer that is making the demands, or the venue that just happens to want to sell more (vastly overpriced) drinks whilst the concert is going on...? biggrin
This is not an exit

In Re-re's case, it's all her and it's actually in her contract. She even threatened to walk out of the Divas live special because VH1 had the air on during rehearsals. She stormed out and wouldn't take the producers calls or accept their apologies. They didn't know if she was coming until an hour before the show. That's how a real diva does. lol

This hat seems to have ruled the world this week. I overheard some ladies talking about it in the grocery store yesterday. The said they made orders for an Aretha hat replica with the designer. They were so geeked about it.

So I read that article AGAIN, looking for a clue that "retail" also meant sales of Aretha's music.

highfive Me, too! "As the World Turns" and "Guiding Light" were my favorites. I stop following them a long time ago, though. I hope Holden and Lily ended up together on the former and Alan Michael Spaulding escaped his dad's shadow on the latter... Damn, I might have to look that mess up on Wikipedia now! lol
