Well, I don't see Massive Attack listed; they definetely deserve a mention!
Favorite album is Mezzanine, but favorite songs are "Three" and "Spying Glass," which are from their second album, Protection. Morcheeba's nice, but definetely groovier (and sunnier) than either Portishead or Sneaker Pimps. Favorite album is Big Calm, and favorite song is "Let Me See," from the same album. Uhm, I don't know if Esthero's Breath from Another can be classified as trip-hop, but it has that same vibe.. And Moloko! Their first album falls into the trip-hop category.. Did anyone say Tricky?
And trip hop fans generally enjoy DJ Cam from France.

You did. I have to admit, as much as I liked the genre when it first got a name, I could never - and still can't - get into him.

I mean, it's a few singles on the first album that are trip hop staples and we can't really get around this discussion without naming him, especially considering his roots with Massive Attack. But yeah, I feel you. Can't say I didn't try.

It's DJ Cam's album's I really want to recommend here. Of course, the earlier the better as trip hop is a very timely genre.

Mono - Life in Mono Yeah! That song is a good one. Do you have Formica Blues? I purchased it a few years ago, but returned it.. just couldn't get into it at the time. "High Life" is one song I do remember and like. Kind of reminded of Saint Etienne.

Trip Hop was just another bullshit tag the music media put on music which featured aspects of Dub/Jazz/Hip Hop. Although this tag was quite possiby the lamest crappy name for a genre which has been made up yet....and there's been a few. Sofa Surfers are insanely good. Their 2nd album "Cargo" is pure genius (the remix album of it is quite good too). Their 3rd "Encounters" and their debut "Transit" are great too. Sadly the last album they released (self titled) is a terrible alternative rock album?? They should definately stick to what they're good at.....and that's a really dark rolling Dub/Jazz/Breaks fusion. Other awesome artist's who were lumped into this lame name genre were Bristol Godfathers Smith & Mighty who produced the early Massive Attack and easily made better albums than Massive Attack if anyone cares to delve into their output. Nightmares On Wax All of the Ninja Tune crew Howie B And whoever else mixed Hip Hop with Dub, Jazz & Jungle. By the way Tricky is a genius although I can see why some people can't get into him due to his records not being very mainstream sounding.

What is trip hop? Is it techno, trance, or whatever the hell house music eventually turned into, with a rap on top of it? Andy is a four letter word.

Trip hop is basically shit hop... move along.. I didn't know maybe if it was a new trend in trance music like the one that lasted a little while in house music which was "hip house". Andy is a four letter word.
