Vainandy's favorite girl shows up at BET Honors 2009 ‘The Voice’ is back ! Whitney Houston made her first major appearance in 2009 at BET Honors Saturday looking beautiful and ready to get back to business. Whitney was not present on the red carpet before the show but appeared to receive a standing ovation when introduced by Tyler Perry. Other photos:

I knew it was Whitty Hutton. Did she sing? She looks fab but I still have bad memories.
Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

They didn't say if she sang or not (Monica was there and she sang). But reports say Whitney WILL sing at Clive Davis' pre-Grammy bash, I guess it still remains to be seen plus her new album reportedly is scheduled for release in March. [Edited 1/18/09 11:08am]

[Edited 1/18/09 11:08am] Oh yes, I heard that and forgot about. Thanks for the reminder. I hope she sounds well. She's noticeably absent from the inaugural festivities. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

[Edited 1/18/09 11:08am] Not happening. If it was being released in March, they'd need the first single out already.

Apparently Whitney was one of several people who recorded "boring R&B" as he put it. Actually in Whitney's days, a lot of people accused her of being a sell-out after 1986 or 1987 because her music was "a bore" to several black record buyers. Plus the girl can't or couldn't really dance so he started calling her "Shitney Houston". He's been hating Whitney since 1985.

You will find that our beloved Vainandy is a funk music devotee, and blames Whit Whit for being a figurehead in commercial music that sorta ushered in the demise of hot sweaty greasy funk. He has been gracious enough to provide us with running commentary on juuuuust how much he hates her for many a year now . And while one may or may not agree with him, we can at least depend on him to faithfully and consistently show up on any Whitney thread to share his opinion on her music. (Actually he rips her music a new asshole at any given opportunity [Edited 1/18/09 13:42pm]

She looks great, but I'm not looking forward to her new album. It includes songs written and produced by R.Kelly,Ne-Yo,John Legend and others So basically,we already know what it's gonna sound like.

She does look great, and I like that dress,
but can she still sing, that last video gave me the impression that she couldn't.

Well it's not like she should be working still with David Foster or Babyface. The album might have a few decent songs though.

She really needs to just go back ot her old style and not do R&B. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

Whitney looks great. I keep hoping that she will do a Natilie Cole style comeback. After all the drugs that Natalie did that derailed her career, she looks and sounds better than ever. **************************************************

I agree.I'd rather hear her doing big, schmaltzy pop numbers again ("Didn't We Always Have It All","I Will Always Love You",etc) instead of trying to do the urban R&B thing.Songs like "Heartbreak Hotel" and "Whatchulookinat" are NOT her style, imo.

A clean wig, a little makeup, a lot of upholstery fabric, and it's almost like she was never a crackhead!
