Peerless in their time, in my opinion. My father.....a white boy in the 50's in Salem, Oregon turned me on to them (thankfully). The melodies, harmonies...the arrangements...the sheer perfection of the vocals (so many tracks)....The Platters NEVER fail me in their capacity for sheer sonic bliss. Can I get a winess up in here??? What's your fave Platters classic?

I couldn't find a good version of it on youtube (mostly a cover version they later did or bad live versions on there), but My Prayer is my fave or second fave by them. That last note he sustains just breaks my heart. So lovely.

And then there's Smoke Gets in Your Eyes. A classic for good reason...
