They'll probably suggest building a new White House. lol

The other one's old and needs upgrading, so why not? lol

That's exactly what their excuse will be. And we all need to be there to ask them...."Well what about historic value that y'all have harped on preserving in the past? This house really has historic value now considering that the first black family occupied it." lol

I guess what irritates me the most is, if it is a party and they bring in all these current acts to perform, then why can't the DJ play current music inbetween the acts for dancing. That shows me that there is no current music suitable for dancing.

So.....since it is a party, why not book acts that make party music....in other words, older acts. It's not like they would be hard to get because I'm sure that any of those older acts who recorded those records would have given their right arm to perform at an event like that. If their records are good enough to play, then why aren't they good enough as an act to perform at the event. They certainly would have been more appropriate for the occassion since the type of music they made was the purpose of the occassion to begin with....a party.

I agree, Nick was playing michael jackson and all kinds of older music.

I didn't enjoy it at all. Beyonce was trying to steal the shine of the Baraks, Mary's dancing was terrible, mariah's voice was bad, alicia keys was boring, i didn't watch maroon 5, and it was more of a performance show than a ball.

Honestly music today is not really dance orientate anymore. last time there was fun dance music it was like 2002. That was the last year of dance pop music.

He did play some old tunes and somewhat mid-tempo ones but they were good. I did like when he played that song by Jay-Z with the horns. That was hot but I know what you guys mean. Oh and I didn't think Mariah sounded bad and I'm not just saying that. I thought it was an improvement.

i think that was nick cannon djing? can i get a co-sign on that one?

Yes, it was. I was impressed with some of the tunes I heard during breaks.

Yeah, I was impressed with Nick too. I expected him to play Michael Jackson a few times, but when I heard Sister Sledge, McFadden & Whitehead and The Gap Band I thought, "Wow!." He was cool as a DJ. I started laughing when he said something like "Give it up for my wife!" when Mariah was done. lol

And I agree Jay-Z was the worst. I didn't understand a word he was saying and he looked corny as ever, LOL. disbelief

See, I was talking with my parents about that show today. I wish we could still have great music star galas like THAT.

I kinda saw the ceremony on HBO good but kinda.....lackluster

I kept flipping between channels and going back to the one that was broadcast on ABC to see if it would ever get better. It was absolutely horrible. The only person worth seeing was Stevie Wonder and even his performance was ruined by the presence of those damn shit hoppers on the stage with him. Hasn't the Obama campaign stressed "Change" all along. Well, start with the Inaugural Ball. Change isn't shit hoppers. That's just more SOS (same ole shit) that's dominated for 15 years.

Anyway, I did notice that the DJ was playing some good songs when they would break to go to a commercial and also when they returned from a commercial. And every song the DJ played was old songs. Why? Because those are the only ones suitable for a party and dancing. But was the crowd dancing? No, they were just standing around. Why? Because they don't know how to dance because everything their entire lives has been too damn slow to dance to. They should have gotten rid of all the acts and let the DJ spin records all night.

I heard the dj break out in "Got To Be Real" at one point cool

They were mid-tempo but I think if we were there would have had fun. It's different when you're actually in the environment. Besides you don't want to get too crazy out there. It is televised and it is an inaugural event. lol
