That's one of my favorite songs from Sheena. It was released as a single, but failed to chart. Many of her fans turned their backs on her when she decided to do "The Lover In Me" CD. Guess it was just too R&B for their tastes. It was a great album, though.

It always amazed me the wide range she developed in this song.

I originally didn't like it (well, maybe I didn't like "Cool Love", which is a bland track for a Prince written song for a hot female). But "101" is the hotness.

I love "101". It is one of Sheena's most passionate performances on record. The song peaked at #2 on the Billboard Dance/Club charts. The remixes are outstanding.

Sheena was like 20 or 21 years old when she starred in The Big Time and had her initial hits. She changed her look and musical style MANY times during the course of her career. It's unfair to judge her by her first singles. She changed and evolved so much after that. Unfortunately, in the UK, thats what they did to Sheena.

Great song. She def sings the hell outta this one...not very commercial...wasn't surprised that it didn't chart back in the day. Cool Love is good too with some great purple guitar.

I found the 12" version of 101 at Amoeba for a buck. It has the "uptown" version that Prince remixed and is playing some KICK ASS guitar on it. OMG! This version is KILLER!!
Imagine Annie Lennox doing this song. She would have nailed it!!
