Jermaine Dupri Returning to Sony?

http://www.rap-up.com/200...g-to-sony/

Now that Jermaine Dupri has cut ties with Island Def Jam, what’s next for the music mogul and his So So Def imprint?

Reports have already begun surfacing that J.D. is headed back to Sony Music, home to Bow Wow, Beyoncé, and John Legend.

So So Def started out in 1993 as a joint venture with Columbia Records. After J.D.’s distribution deal ended, he ventured to Arista Records in 2002. In 2004, So So Def shifted from Arista to Zomba Music Group because of the SonyBMG merger. In 2005, So So Def moved again, this time to Virgin Records. Dupri had a falling out with Virgin in 2006, which resulted in him leaving the label for Island Def Jam, where he most recently was let go from his post as President of Urban Music.

“I haven’t spoken to [Island Def Jam Chairman] L.A. [Reid] in three months. I don’t know if it’s amicable [considering] that they claim they put me out. I feel like it’s not amicable,” the rapper-producer-mogul told Essence.com about his departure from Island Def Jam.

No word on what will happen to YouTube sensation Dondria and TAG Records’ Q Da Kid, both of whom were signed to Island Def Jam.

In his mind, he think he is the greatest. He needs a really good kick in the ass.

Didn't Sony drop his ass after Tommy Matolla left?

It's an ego thing.Being a producer/songwriter ain't enough. These guys wanna be CEOs and record company presidents, even though they're not always qualified for those positions.

Exactly! But these cats aint making any decisions on artistry for the most part, these guys are rarely if ever making "business" decisions, its just a title, Prince was a VP at Warner, along with 120 others who made ZERO calls on anything. So I know JayZ and others have had that CEO title, but inreality what did Jay Z do with that label? was there a "motown" movement, he didnt take anything anywhere, it was all bottom line, buying things, and taking money from the artists at the label, all the things these cats "rapped and griped" about when they had nothing.

"We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F
