EL Debarge doing well in prison From a Debarge site:
El wanted to send a message to all friends and fans thanking them for their support. El wanted the fans to know that he is receiving the letters that are being sent to him.A lot of the letters start with" I know you might not get this" He is receiving the letters and he reads them. They are very encouraging and he appreciates the time and effort that everyone is putting forth to reach out to him now. He said that he is in great spirits and that the prayers and the thanksgiving that the fans are sending to him have really helped him get through this time. He wanted them all to know he is very, very, very ( exact words told to me.."very" three times) appreciative of all the love. He felt he had to send word out to that everyone would know "I'm Okay". He says he is not in general population but he is in a "High Power" section with other celebrities. He sends his love to all and again thanks everyone for their love and support. When I find out the address to write him, I will post it. Right now, I think he is being transferred. "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

Why weren't Bobby and Chico in the celebrity section like El is? "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

That's a good question. They were "stars" also. Yeah, but that was the 80s--before so many celebrities starting going to prison that they needed their own wing. And weren't they locked up in some remote rural places--states that likely never dealt with stars? Isn't El in California someplace--the land of celebrities?

El is in Cali
Chico spent most of his time in a prison in Indiana. I wanna say Terre Haute, but I am not sure It is true that in the 80s, you didn't hear of celebs going to the pokey like you do now. Matter of fact, if Chico and Bobby went up the river now, they would have gotten a slap on the wrist, most likely "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

There was the cocaine, but from what I've browsed, there were outstanding warrants. Apparently, there's some chick out there small enough to be domestically assaulted by El. And there were other things as well, yes?

Wow. Must not have been the first time or he got some distribution charges, because that seems awfully stiff for simple possession.

I may have to write ol' El..send him some encouragement...Tell him to come SAVE ME from this stuff they're trying to pass off as music these days. I really gave up on "black music" altogether. My child couldn't name ONE R&B song made after like 85 or so. In fact, we were just sangin' the hell out of "I Like It". He owns Thriller, Barry White, a bunch of rock CDs, and compilations CDs of 80s hits. We youtube music from the late 70s and 80s nearly every weekend. HELP US, EL!

That's what Chico did. He then released a decent album when he got out. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-
