Have You Ever Been (To Electric Ladyland)? I've been jamming Hendrix's 1968 masterpiece Electric Ladyland and I must admit this album has aged extremely well. I prefer it to the more commerical, yet satisfying Are You Experienced?. Electric Ladyland contains some of Hendrix's best experimentation and the guitar playing is phenomenal. My personal favorites are Have You Ever Been (to Electric Ladyland), Crosstown Traffic, Voodoo Chile, Burning The Midnight Lamp, All along the Watchter, and 1983...(A Merman I Should Turn To Be). Hendrix captured different moods and sounds on the aforementioned trax and his playing had a heavier touch of blues. This collection of songs should be a requirement for anyone that has ever thought about picking up a guitar. I can't help but be saddend when listening to the album, because Hendrix's future was so bright. He had just scratched the surface of his musical capabilities. | |
