The amount of negative U2 comments on here is pathetic, they are the greatest band of the last 30 years, get over it and stop lying to yourselves.

They suck. All their songs suck. And Bono looks like Robin Williams.

I don't think U2 sucks but I'm really glad I'm not the only one who think so.

What about "Bad", "Unforgettable Fire", "Sort of Homecoming", or "Wire"? Hell, even "MLK"? I really love that record...

It's the biggest song on that album, though...

"Bad" and "Pride" are neck and neck for my favorite U2 song.

'Bad', 'Kite', 'One Tree Hill', 'One'. 'So Cruel', 'Stuck In A Moment . . '
Pride is just a little bit behind . . .
I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

I wasn't baiting anyone. I'm just saying that the song being about MLK doesn't prejudice my judgment. I love it.

I thought this thread was posted in the "Music:Non-Prince" section of a blog site named Prince.org. That being said, when discussing other artists, I reserve the right to like or dislike said artists. In U2's case I happen to love the group. I also like Sade, Sting, Whitney Houston, Rick James, George Michael and Chaka Khan. Is saying that taboo here as well or are all Prince fans supposed to be simple minded and loath all non-Prince efforts?
Is MLK Prince's father? If I adore Prince's music is it a crime to disagree with MLK's philosophy?
MLK stood for a non-violent approach to a system of injustice which physically, mentally and sexually abused our race for centuries, stressing that we should "turn the other cheek" when confronted by hate. I say human beings have only four cheeks, two on the face and the other two on our asses. One can only turn the other cheek but so often. I say if a man hits you once, especially unprovoked as "we" were in America for centuries, chop the fucking arm off it can't hit you anymore.

What are you taking about? Why do you think an artists like Prince or Bono look up to MLK ? Why do they quote him in their lyrics ? its because they understand how smart the man was, how he was ahead of the game, ahead of the world he had vision you really got to start hearing the message in the music ....its stronger and harder than kick or a punch in the face man...
Sh*t the man died for you and me ....he knew he was gonna get killed but he made his life count for something .....MUSIC man it's in the MUSIC...

Who you, Prince or Bono choose to look up to is alright with me, but don't hate me because I disagree with your choice. I'm no fan of MLK and I don't agree with his philosophy. He wasn't the only advocate equality among the races in America or the world. White America made him the champion of the civil rights cause after the advent of the Black Muslim movement in the 1950's and 60's.
They were more comfortable with him and his message than what was coming from the other end of the spectrum.

They may have been more comfortable that with the other end of the spectrum . . .so comfortable MLK, Jr., was killed . . . .

What makes you think White America made MLK,Jr.?
They were in any church organizing a response to anything . . .
Not then.
I don't want you to think like me. I just want you to think.

Thomas Jefferson was comfortable with his slave girl Sally and had many children with her, but in the end it didn't make her any less of a slave. She was just doing her master's duty in the bedroom or wherever he chose to rape her.
MLK was killed because he voiced a message white America disagreed with. Because they were more comfortable with his message than that of Elijah Muhammad, Louis Farrakhan or Malcolm X, doesn't mean that they didn't think the uppity nigger overstepped his boundaries and had to be whacked.

Always hated this song. There is a book by a noted rock critic, where he says that this is one of the worst rock songs ever made. I won't go that far, but this song just doesn't do it for me. It is too mealy mouthed and feather light for my tastes. It doesn't do MLK the right respect. Too lightweight for such a great man. No, this one misses, big.

This one should have stayed on the barb wired fence..lol Too bad, because MLK deserves a great song.

So you hate a song that's over 20 yrs old... and you really think any of us REALLY give a fuck?
